Nothing negative to say about Riot but really don't have anything to add other than they're manufactured in Canada.

That is a good deal. I have been in the market for a pedal kayak. Looking at used but hard to find even used.

yea, I saw their kayaks at Icast and at Paddlesports Retailer. The drive sounds like a lawnmower. But other than that I don't know how reliable it is.

I did not have a good experience with it at Paddle Sports Retailer. Hard pass for me. Way too much plastic on a propulsion device for my liking.

If that is a Hobie for that price and the pedals are in good shape...snatch it up right now!

I need to correct my original post in this thread. Riot kayaks are manufactured in China at a facility owned by Riot, so they should have stricter quality control measures than other China kayaks. Riot is based out of Canada where it has two distribution centers.
Explains the cheap price and negative comments regarding the drive.

I don't know about this one, in particular.
But, the time is coming where one should be able to buy a really good pedal kayak for $1000. If you find the price per pound of HDPE granules, I think it'd support the fact there isn't much material cost for the hull. For sure, spinning out a kayak adds some cost, but still you can get a very nice bicycle for $1000, so why not a plastic kayak?
And, pedals? All ancient technology . . . been around for hundreds of years now. No fuss there, at least for a really basic device like the Native drive.
Hang in there!

kayak body looks fine, but pedal is kind of cheap.
