In a rush, sit down to haul [censored] to weigh in.. Go to get on plane, wondering why everything is shaking so damn bad and why it was difficult to plane. Scratching my head looking in the rear to find a problem.. Pull the trolling motor up, and all is good.......

Coming in after a long day of tournament fishing and driving the boat onto the wrong trailer.

I forgot to strap the rods down in one side of the back deck. I had 3 rods less on the boat after the run. Luckily it was early on in my bassin and they are old rods and reels but i was poor back then too.

Many years ago, my partner (michael green) and I were fishing a Scott Gordon / Mark Jones event on Lake Grapevine it was a big bass & then Scotts tournament. Im getting the boat ready and michael goes to pay both entry fees. Well he comes back and hands me my change? I ask are we entered in both tournaments and he tells me yes. Something told me I should have verified but I didnt... so we take off, well we have a good bite going and I latch into an 8+ on my trusty drop shot and I drop her in the livewell. Its the middle of summer, so I thought lets go weigh her in and we split. I put her in the weigh bag, walk up to Scotts scales with a big grin on my face and its weighed in at over 8 pounds. Scott tells me we are in 1st place big bass overall, so I walk back to the lake and release her. We are fixing to leave the dock and both Mark and Scott come down pull me aside and tell me we are only entered in the regular 5 fish tournament. Apparently michael was confused as to what we had entered, so from that point on, I learned my lesson to trust my gut feeling... I will get the boat ready then verify we are entered into everything. That oops cost us some good money that day

I am glad to know I am not the only one that has gone to weigh in with SIX FISH!! I did it too, michael green and I yet again, we were in another of Scott Gordons tournaments on Lake Grapevine, we weighed our five fish limit and didnt get a check. So we head back to Lake Dallas to put my boat back in storage... as Im backing in michael says stop, he hops in the boat, opens a livewell lid and theres about a 16 fat spotted bass that would have got us a check. There was about 2 of water still in my livewells and that fish was very much alive. So we drive over to Lakeview marina and release it...

I was fishing a seniors tournament last Tuesday on Ivie. Threw my spinnerbait up to the bank and pulled it over a tree limb and woosh. I set the hook and my trolling motor was set on constant. I fought the fish at the same time I was fighting the TM, I finally get it under control and head over to the Bush where the fish is now wrapped . The boat hits a tree as the wind was howling, I fall out of the boat in 10 ft of water, and now Im neck deep andI have the trolling motor shaft in one hand and my rod in my other hand with a big bass pulling on it.!!!!!!
I thought, what a predicament Im in , I cant let go of my boat or Ill be stranded, I cant let go of my rod or Ill loose an expensive rod and a big fish. I just set there until finaly I felt the fish was gone. I released the reel, threw the rod on the deck and pulled myself back in . I grab my line and to my Surprise there she was, 8#9oz.i got 2nd and won big bass.
This may not qualify as dumb, but definitely not smart.
The one that didnt get away. Thats one fish I will never forget as long as I live .

My old friend Capt Grumpy won that Senior's Tourn. on Ivie. I should have been there with him; so I could have fallen out of the boat again. Seems like every time I go with him, I fall out of the boat.
