If we get another cool front the top water bite should start to pick up, I prefer poppers and prop baits over the walking lures on this lake.
The smaller senkos typically produce lots of smaller bites. Standard shad colored flukes work well also.
I like throwing the deeper diving suspending jerkbaits.
My son wears them out on the green/black beetle spins.

If you want to pick up as many bites as possible a 4” green pumpkin senko on a 1/8-3/16 ounce weight has been the best numbers bait for me. Also a green pumpkin colored ned rig is good for catching spots.

So I am taking my daughter there in about 2 weeks. She just wants the line to tug no matter what size of fish. So how would you recommend to fish to catch a lot of fish (spots I assume) and where? Get a bucket of minnows and drift them about 2 foot below a bobber dragged behind your boat. Anywhere in sight of the dam will be fine. Put the boat in about 20 foot of water and just drift. If you just want some bites and to catch some 10-inch spots, you will get all you want doing this I expect.

I am planning on fishing there tomorrow. Hoping not a lot of wind. I'll have a report on how we do.

GOOD, because the fish should be getting ready to turn on pretty quickly, when we get some cooler days and nights, HOPEFULLY, they will start going shallower. GOOD LUCK!!!!! Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Well, the wind did blow. Between three of us we boated 31 Fish. All were spots and caught anywhere from 35 to 50 foot of water. Most were caught from following shad schools. The spots were pushing them up and all we did was throw past them and reel through them. Most were only a pound or so with a couple of two’s and one that would go three. I think we could have done a lot better if the wind had not blown. Still had a good time. Beats working!

CONGRATS, GOOD ON YA!!!!!!! Nothing big, but some that will grow big. A 3 lb spot is a NICE fish, too. CONGRATS AGAIN!

I used to pray for calm days on Alan Henry.
If you think it is a tough lake to fish, it is even harder with no wind.

Billy So did you keep 15 spots? No, we didn't. The only thing we brought home was a good sun burn. Forgot my sunscreen.
