The Ray Hubbard Bass Club held our eighth members only tournament of 2018 on Saturday September 8th on our home lake, Ray Hubbard. I was not present for this one, but reports have the day starting cloudy and cool and by mid morning heavy rain was falling and continued to fall most of the day. I heard reports of boats hiding in marina stalls when it got really nasty, but true to her reputation, when the weather gets rough, Mother Hubbard kicks out some heavy bags! 33 boats braved the conditions and when it was all said and done, the team of David Simmons and Jason Hunnicutt came out victorious with a limit that weighed 18.63 pounds. That included big bass of the tournament, a 7.86 monster. Here are full results and pictures.

Weigh in was held on the covered patio at Chandlers Landing. They are great hosts!

Clark Crenshaw and Roddy Bieber had four for 6.76

Chris Lewis and Daniel Phillips weighed four for an adjusted 9.06

David Burton fished solo and had a limit for 10.57

Bubba Davis and Brian Jordan had five for an adjusted 10.62

My partner Chris Atkinson got to fish with Michael Parkes this month. He probably enjoyed that a lot more than lugging my tired butt around. They had five for 11.27

Brian Brooks and James Sharp had a limit for 12 pounds even

Garrett Macias and Bobby Finta had a good bag of 13.29

Josh Mulkey and Adam McLaughlin got a top 10 finish with five for 13.87

Preston Smith and David Horton continued their run of good finishes with a limit that weighed 14.75 and included a 6.27 kicker

Kenny and Kasey Bunch just missed the money with five for 15.42. Their big fish weighed 5.49

Dale Rettman and Kelly Millhollon finished sixth with a limit weighing 16.20

Finishing fifth but not pictured were Paul Villarreal and Joe Ruiz with a great limit of 17.73 with a 6.16 big fish.

The top four spots were very tight. Fourth place went to Doug Rener and Andy Medina with five for 18.04. Their kicker weighed 6.42

Third place went to Ronnie Manning fishing with guest Randy Conover. Their limit weighed 18.17. They just missed big bass with a 7.69

Just missing the win were Cameron Laing and Patrick Sharpe. Their bag weighed an adjusted 18.35 with a 5.73 kicker

Here are your winners! Both former AOY's, David Simmons (the brains behind this RHBC deal) and Jason Hunnicutt had a great limit of 18.63!

Here's David with big bass of the tournament, a 7.86 toad! Congratulations guys!

I'd like to thank everyone for picking up the slack in my absence. Brian Roether for running the meeting. David Simmons for getting registration and payouts handled and working with Chandlers. David Mulkey and Tommy Yates for checking live wells. Robert, Paul, Big John and David Choate for handling weigh in! Kudos to you all! Our next event will be held.... well that's up in the air since THSBA took our Lewisville date. We are voting on that now. The tournament will be on Saturday October 13th at a lake to be named soon. See you there!
