Am I over thinking this? I'm close to having my jack plate dialed in. I'm getting top end speed at 52 MPH in a 2008 Skeeter ZX190 but I've seen others close to 57. I'm able to get max RPMs out of my Yamaha 150 and I'm close to top speed but not quite there. Do I lower or raise my jack plate to gain speed with already having max RPM?

not a pro, but seems like if you're already at max rpm, lowering it would give you a better bite. however---the only things that confuse me more than props are women, white tails and speckled trout.

dialing in the height, you look at this

1) water pressure... no less than 17 on a hammer
2) max rpms (if water psi good.. then the prop should be worked)
3) boat handling (when too high the rear end will skate around)
4) max speed... too high and the speed falls off and the nose drops

most zx skeeters run a 12" plate. usually set at 2.75 below pad
