I know many people are of the opinion that the best time to go fishing is whenever you can. Besides that has anyone ever compared the Farmers Almanac best days to go fishing to a fishing app? Only reason I ask is because I have the fishing app FishingMobile and I've compared it to the Farmers Almanac and they are vastly different as to what the best days to fish are. Which one should I believe, and does anyone have any experience with the two? Thanks

Ive used both and dont believe any of them
Two lakes same size 5 miles apart Lake A just had a huge four day fishing tournament with 100s of anglers Lake B will fish better
Two same sized lakes 100 miles apart. Equal fishing pressure. Equal stocking histories and equal bait fish Lake C water level has been dropping rapidly over the last month Lake D water level has been steadily rising over the last month Ill go to Lake D

Thanks for everyone's input. It's looks like www.solunarforecast.com/ is a mixture of both. Guess it goes back to just going when you can and making the most of it.

How can an app or an almanac predict fishing days accurately. It takes lots more info to predict the bite than just the weather. Even each species has different patterns for any given situation. About all the app and the almanac can predict is the weather for a given set of days. Any one day prediction would be inaccurate.

I use the solunarforcast.com colander for hunting. It has been accurate enough for me that I will stay in the stand longer on some days than others. Both bucks I took last year were during the major periods. He first year I used the calander, I went out on the weekend marked "season best". I saw deer all weekend, I also saw the only 2 fights I have witnessed.

Heres my 2 pennies....I use https://www.huntfishsport.com/ Which appears to have similar times as solunarforcast. If your fishing where fish are....it makes a difference in how aggressive the fish bite. I fish for crappie, fish within the prime times...they will thump and nearly swallow a jig. Outside of prime time, fish seem less aggressive...very light bite/hooked outside of the mouth and you have to hit them on the head to get a bite. Weather/temperature dominates over prime times.

Both are simply wild arse guesses. Neither are usually right. +1 I never look at this stuff. I just go fishing. The only thing I might take note of is the moon phase and that's really only during the spring. Other than that I just go and try to figure out the conditions for that day

Which one should I believe, and does anyone have any experience with the two? Thanks I pay far more attention to weather conditions and tides. My experiences with freshwater is that I do better on west and south wind days, and days where the air pressure is falling rather than rising. Likewise, when saltwater fishing, I pay close attention to tides and moon phase. But, if the only day I have available is a high-pressure north wind day on a bad moon phase, I'll still go fishing.

I've been told more than once that you can't catch fish unless you have a line in the water. If you are not in the stand you can't bag the buck that comes out after you leave to go drink some beer.

My fail proof system is to go fishing. If I catch fish, then it was a good time to go fishing. If I don't catch fish, then it was a bad time to go fishing. Works every time.
