Went out on Saturday morning on Lavon to fish and was pretty windy and hit a few bumps along the way and my side scan stopped working the screen just went almost black but regular sonar and mapping worked fine. I was about to crappie fish and nothing would work with side scan or down scan imagining on my HDS7 GEN3 device. I googled stuff on my phone and tried resetting the device but nothing worked. I went to the front of the boat and was about to just fish without it when I happened to look at the back of the unit and the dang side scan cable had come loose I guess when I went through the bumpy waves on the way out. Attached the cable back to the unit and I was back in action!!! Hope this helps someone else who may see this one day!!! You didn't mention what transducer is used but if it is the totalscan, then this will happen as the connector from the cable to the unit is a 'pitch' to align. I had this happened in a tournament and my partner asked if I had plugged it in. Since it was working and then wasn't I said of course I connected it but I'll check anyway - it was not properly seated - just like you.

Not sure how easy this question is to answer, but here goes..
about to buy a boat that : 1. is wired for HDS Gen3. has hds7 gen 3 total scan in console 2. I will need to buy a FF for the Bow, to connect to existing trolling motor xducer.
are any other Lowrance FF compatible with the xducer and power connectors used on HDS gen 3 ?
don't want to spend much on the Bow FF, a 5" is fine. and just as important, I'll use the same head unit on my Kayak - hence 5" max.
thanks!

Yes all power cables are the same, but the transducer depends on what style it is. Do you know which one is on there?

Not yet.. it will be a week or so before I get the boat. He had a HDS9 gen 3 on the bow.

So hes keeping the 9? Most transducers will be compatible, but theres a few exceptions with older graphs and newer transducers. But the way graphs drop in price, youll be able to find something thatll work with it, just post back when you know what it has on the tm.

I have a Lowrance Hook 7 purchased in March. It does not have side scan. Can I add side scan to this unit or am I going to need a new unit?

The Hook-7 and Hook2-7 SplitShot are only capable of 2D and down scan. The Hook2-7 Tripleshot is capable of 2D, Down and side scan. No way to add sidescan to the Hook-7 or Hook2-7 SplitShot.

Will the Hook2 9 tripleshot be compatible with FishReveal? It is compatible with Elite Ti, HDS Carbon, and Gen3, no mention of the Hook2 series.

My Lowrance HDS Carbon came with Insight Genesis. Can anyone give me ideas on sending uploads to Insight Genesis? I try to upload and I can't get through the first map before the program stops loading. I am using a PC computer. I have made sure the computer remains on. Ensured the internet and router continue to function properly. Stopped security during the download. Used three different browsers including Chrome. The upload typically stops at 33.6% but has gone to 35%. Any other ideas on what to try?

New to Forum--meant to post this on this thread but accidentally started new Lowrance thread--sorry. This concerns whether there's an issue with networking HDS units of different generation--specifically gen 3 and gen2 touch-Here's my [edited] original post:
Recently purchased HDS12 Gen3 w/ Totalscan transducer for console and moved HDS7 Gen2 Touch to the bow and trolling motor which has built-in US2 transducer--connected units by Ethernet--turned networking on for both--i want to view split screen sonar on both units (or either alone) using both transducers so i can see front and back at same time--I named each of the HDS devices--but when i select the source on each unit it changes the source for both --to the source i'm selecting at that moment--same thing if i try selecting using just the split screen on the Gen3. Note--i had selected 200KHz for the trolling motor transducer and High Chirp for the Totalscan--and oddly enough in the split screen, although the display says i'm using the same source for both screens, it is displaying (in the lower left corner of each) that one is on 200KHz and the other on High Chirp. So is this a glitch and am i actually getting a split screen view of both transducers like i want or is there a glitch in the frequency being displayed ? Both sides of the split screens seem to be displaying the same thing so i have doubts i'm getting a view of both transducers. Wondering if maybe there's a software incompatibility between the 2 generations--Any help appreciated

What you are attempting to do is available when you have the units in the "Live Network Sonar" mode. Unfortunately all units on the network must be Gen3 or Carbons in order to do so, otherwise they will all run in "Legacy" mode.

OK thanks MAK747--so there is a problem networking Gen2Touch with Gen3--not sure what "Legacy" mode is but sounds like it prevents the Gen3 from doing its thing. Kind of irritating that Lowrance hasn't fixed this--sounds like a software issue but they're trying to force you to upgrade? Still don't understand why the split screen is showing different frequencies but same source transducer...

Live Network Sonar was a feature that was added to the GEN3/Carbon units in software version 4.5. One of the criteria to use it is that all units on the network need to be GEN3 or higher. Legacy mode is the way that the units all behaved prior to this enhancement, meaning that you can view any transducer from any unit but only one on the screen at a time. If you can find Tech Bulletin TB-93570/May 10, 2017, it describes the enhancement. You can display two different frequencies from the same transducer on split screen such as 83Khz on one side and 200Khz on the other. I presume that chirp could also be on one of the panels.
