So was it just the 1st place check that bounced or did all that placed have checks bounce? I'm sure it's in this 8 pages somewhere.

Yea Chris I got a little carried away on that one. I just hate this piling on BS by these hacks. It would seem they would have something else to do. You cashed quite a few yourself. Ever had one go bad? Plus Im a lucky SOB as you know. You seem to be a pretty good ole boy, almost certain it was you that won a boat on Hubbard Creek a few years back, let me ask you a hypothetical, say that boat certificate you won was not able to be redeemed, so you call the tournament director and ask what the deal is, the tournament director tells you " well the boat company is supposed to give you the boat, maybe in 2 or 3 months they will make good on the deal " how would you feel about that or what would you do ? Who would you hold responsible ? The tournament trail or the boat manufacturer ? I am sure Gordon is a good guy, I have fished many of their tournies, never had a problem ( well there was a plaque deal that was messed up ). There has been some piling on here, but the bottom line is Gordon could have and should have nipped this in the bud the very day he learned about it, that is what 90 % of the posters are saying. To let 3000 dollars possibly wreck a business is asinine. This will not keep me from fishing a Media event, I just hope there are still some to fish. Funny you should go there. I fished a tourney at PK in 1984 I think that had a new Skeeter boat and trailer as 1st place. I won. After weigh in the guy putting on the tournament pulled me to the side and quietly told me that he messed up and didnt put that the boat was based on 200 entrys on the tournament flyer. I got 2k . I was really mad. I also worked in the biggest tackle shop and boat dealer in the state so I had a pretty good platform to talk from. After some thought I figured that the only thing I would accomplish would be to possibly ruin a mans business and I still wouldnt have a boat. So I just sulked around for a few days and went on. As far as this deal, yes it sucks but Gordon has told the guys he is working on it and will eventually get them taken care of. What has happened to giving the guy the benifit is the doubt? Gordon doesnt have any type of reputation of ripping people off and he has been running Media for 20 years. The very few guys in the past that had a problem all got taken care of. Gordon doesnt want this to happen and from what I know of him he is not a liar. If his lawyer told him he had to wait that is case Im am sure. Ill bet just about anyone that hires a lawyer on something listens to him. Why else hire a lawyer. Dont forget he got ripped off also. I am a small business owner and I know a lot of other members are. Most of us would be lying if we said we never have gotten into a business situation that forced us to make someone hang on until we got a problem worked out. I am thankful that when that has happened to me my customers gave me the benifit of the doubt and bore with me as long as I stayed in touch. I cant imagine one going into the internet or writing all of my other customers and bashing me before I could make good. If I said I would make good on the deal like Gordon has. It is easy for all of us to say if it was my business I would have paid as soon as the guy called but this is t happening to you guys so it is just talk. Give the guy a chance. The internet is a powerful tool that can hurt a business or product. Like many other threads I read everyone on here is piling on in a matter that doesnt have any effect on them. You arent helping the OP out any he is going to get paid either way. But you might run a guy that has had a 20 year business out by piling on. Again over 3000.00 that has zero effect on you. A guy that has been around longer than any Trail I can think of and hundreds of us have enjoyed the competition and his tournaments. I guess it makes some people proud that they might have the power via the keyboard to hurt someone. Your right happy camper, I am a good old boy that always gives a guy the time to make his word good. I know Gordon will make good on this and I hope the people that have enjoyed fishing his events in the past keep it up. He has always offered the weekend guy an affordable opportunity to fish competitively. Im out on this thread and I know Imwont change many minds but I hope for all your sake if you ever find yourself in these shoes you fare better than Gordon has. Peace out

If some or all paid their entry fee to MediaBass, why were the winners checks drawn on a personal account of the TD? I guess no one can answer the question. I said I was out, but will answer. The credit card money is deposited in the TD account after entrys are collected. Which are up until the morning of the event I think. Checks are mailed directly from the entrant to the TD. His address is right on the form. So Gordon does not have the money. The TD does. Now think about if he supplied a Media checkbook to each TD and all funds were drawn from one corporate account. Then when a crooked TD ripped him off it would be all of the prize money for all regions not just the one he runs. That is the reason each region is run independently.

Ok Ive bit my tongue for a long time but this is getting stupid. As an organization dealing with many thousands of dollars across regions how on earth does one allow a personal account to have funds put into?? Next this has been proven to be not only a single occasion but something that has not only occurred more than once but in more than one event. I dont fish these events and dont have to fish them to objectively view the situation. Media deserves what its getting in this case. As owner Gordon could have contacted all affected persons and let them know he was legally going to pursue the TD for his actions which may take whatever amount of time and give a personal guarantee that he would make them whole when it was over yet that appears to have not happened. Instead anglers have gotten bounced check with a my kid owes your kid bs response that has lead to this.
This was so very easily avoidable and the fact months went by from event to finally being aired proves that those who are owed have been more than patient. Media imho has clearly and rightfully so earned its internet death!

If you are truly a business owner as you say, then you should know the right thing to do is take care of your paying customer immediately or risk them never doing business with you again. I have insurance for these exact situations as all small businesses that are run correctly should. That small amount of money is not worth the hit your reputation will take and the lost dollars from current customers and potential customers.

We got 2 hot checks from Gary Youngblood last season , he took care of them both in a few weeks time . We chose not to fish with him again though . And with the way Gordon has chosen to deal with this mess , I will never fish another media derby . I know there are 2 sides too every story , I believe that Gordon hasn't been getting paid from Gary as well , or had to bail him out a few times over the past 3 years . That being said , smarting off too guys on FB , is not the honorable thing to do ! Media should have got the winning guys paid , within a week of the bad checks . And all this mess would have been avoided !!!

Just to give Gordon and Tommy a break here, does anyone remember Specialty Bass and it's owner Tommy Miller ? I used to fish it and seemed very successful, even had their own TV show. Not to hijack the thread, just thought there might be some similarity to the subject.

I would just like to know what Gary Youngblood was thinking.
I mean did he really think he could pull off a several thousand dollar heist by writing hot personal checks?
Did he flee to Mexico with the $7500 (or however much it is) and believe it was enough to retire with?
Anyone with a half brain would realize you were gonna get busted as soon as the first hot Check was cashed. Just don't get his thinking here.
