I need advise on the most secure method to bow mount an HDS 12 unit. I fish from a 19 Tracker and want a mounting system that wont abuse the unit when running. I would also need the ability to remove the unit from the boat upon completing the fishing trip. I appreciate all advise in advance and thanks.

I have an HDS 12 mounted on the bow of my boat using a Precision Sonar Bow mount bracket. It has been on there for 2 years. The unit can be removed with the gimbal nuts.

What's wrong with the gimbal mount that came with the unit?
As far as "abuse", if the unit can't withstand the vibration of going across the water, maybe you need a different unit.
After some thought...
I see sonars mounted at deck level all over. The average guy is probably 5'10"-5'11". If the unit is mounted on deck, you are at about 5' from eye level to screen. If you are standing or using the bike seat, and the sun is glaring, what use is having one on the bow? Why not mount it on a pedestal where you can actually see some useful information. I'm not a bass guy, but I installed a seat base on the bow and built a pedestal using a seat pedestal to hold the sonar, so if someone is sitting in the chair, the screen is pretty much in your face.. Just wondering. Except for impressing other fishermen with all of the electronics, what's the point?

This is the way I have mine mounted. The 12 is on the precision mount while the 9 which I use for charting is on a bridge that I had built over the recessed trolling motor foot control tray. I can see both screens clearly whether I am sitting or standing. I do quit a bit of vertical fishing so I like my devices up where I can see them yet they are not in my way.

The precision sonar mount looks like the way to go. Thanks for all the advise.

I went with a Bass boat Technologies mount on the bow for my Helix 10. Ordered it on Saturday or Sunday, it shipped on Monday and I had it on Wednesday. My only other choice would have been the Precision Sonar one.
