Why do you need so many sonars, I wonder. I fished with Ralph Manns and he did a week or two week study on the attitudes of fish to the sound of the units. He found he caught a LOT more fish 30 minutes after the sonars were turned off. I use one while running, but then I turn it off. I had 2 mounted and took one off. I fish with some guys that want everything all the way, but they do not catch many more fish than I do and I am happy with that. Just call me old fashioned, I guess. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I have two on the console and two on the bow. If on an unfamiliar lake, I'll have one on the console for mapping and one for sonar. The two up front, I have one I use almost exclusively for Garmin Livescope and one for everything else. I sometimes wish I had another one up front.

I have a Helix 12 at the front and a Helix 12 plus an in dash 798 at the console. The 798 is mostly for the map when running between locations. Didn't want to leave a hole in the dash. The Console Helix 12 gets used for recording SI to be reviewed later on the PC. SI for eliminating water and I mostly use waypoints wiht the Humminbird 360 while fishing.

How are you guys that use 3-4 units powering them?
I have a Duracell 31AGM for cranking and electronics and 10 gauge wire throughout. If the Solix 15, 12 and 360 are left on at full brightness, cranking the engine by the mid afternoon will drop the amp supply to the units enough to cause them to shut off and restart. The engine doesn't seem to mind, but the Solix's are very sensitive to amp drops. I'd like to connect two 31AGM's in parallel but I don't currently have the room to pull that off.
To the original question: As with rods, reels, lures, shallow water anchors, automatic trolling motors, boats and sonar units, if you have the money to blow, it's just nice to have the biggest and baddest available. I ALWAYS sleep my rear units now when I go to the bow. I have a intimidator agm group 31 starting battery. (been told by many this is the BEST battery out there hands down @78 lbs it better be good) Starting my motor will turn off one unit on my console if I get to a low voltage, but I only got to that one time when Ive just left the rear units on and I think it was after 7 maybe 8 hours of tm fishing only. Ive considered adding a lithium battery for starting only, but it really hasnt been a issue except the one time for me. I do have a small jump box I carry just in case. I usually am fishing no wake lakes so not much chance at re charging on the lake. I run 3 12's and pumps all day never issue and I run 4 of the Deka intimidators..by far best battery

I run the Batteries Plus group 31 X2 power agm and never had an issue.

I don't understand why people have different brands side by side. I guess some people like the mapping of one brand and the graphing of another?

Intentions were to sell the old ones but never got around to it then the light went off and the man said the old graph was great for mapping.

How do you guys eliminate the units from interfering with each other? I've got 2 Helix 10's and once I get in water over 20 feet deep they start to "interfere" with each other... Dan

If You have one unit and something comes out that has features you prefer; its expensive to buy 2 new ones. Already have 1, dont want to lose my shirt on resale, worth more to keep it and use it.

I have two Hummingbird units. One aft and one on the bow. It's all I need though.
95% of my fishing is in water 15 ft. deep or less.
