My original All Star WR1's Those were some great rods, I still use my Platniums for this... just rebuilt both and put recoil guides on them. Agree - I just retro fitted Winn Grips to the two WR1's I still have.

I was the All Star rod rep for NTX for five years and I replaced about 90% of all the WR-1's I sold. I broke two in one day pitching a jig at Fork on fish and this is before braided line!

I may look into the Winn Grips. But I still love my platnium series rods. With the re-coil eyes added I dont worry about breaking eyes anymore.
