Put a few crappie in the cooler today and my fishin bud latches on to this ditch pickle at the very last dock we fished. Weighed 5lbs.4oz. on a 1/32 jig. A good time to call it a day.

Back in the early 90s, friend is here from Houston wanting to fill the freezer. We're in the back of a cove with schooling fish hitting shad. He likes to catch and keep white bass which is fine with me. There's a big bass tournament going on the same day. He catches a bass about 2.5 lbs and throws it in the cooler. There's a bass boat about 60 yds from us and one guy says to the other, did you see him throw that bass in the cooler? Of course we hear this and as the boat gets closer, my buddy says loudly, that small one ought to taste better than that 8 lber did last night. Of course, we hadn't caught any 8 lber or any other bass for that matter. He always like to

We didn't measure this one but I'm sure it was a slot fish so we sent it on its way. My fishin bud is an old Toledo Bend bass guide that saw the light and started chasing crappie. Now, when either of us catches a bass it's "Heck, anybody can catch a bass!".

Ken : That's a funny story but you will get hate mail from the tournament guys. I've caught a whole bunch of big LM Bass fishing at my PK crappie spots this year. Most have been caught on Perch fishing for the stripers hanging out under the crappie and perch. No telling how many Crappie these monsters ate before I "removed them". As a side note, my wife actually likes LM bass as she blackens them and they turn out fine. My Pro Angler crappie rod wears out these ditch pickles pretty quick. Every one of these Bass was caught under docks I fish for crappie. By the looks of these monsters its no wonder I don't have to wade through dinks at PK. These guys ate them all. I figure I saved a few crappie. You could put a gallon can in some of those bass mouths.
