Wife and I have talked to him several times at the Classics but back when his son was racing we did a lot of bench racing also. His son Billy is just like Hank a real class act.

I was thinking he was going to be at the CAST for kids event in Waco this Saturday, but looks like he's not on the list with Jimmy and Roland this year. We spent some time with him last year there, great guy and really fun to talk fishing with. I asked if he ever kept track of how many times per episode he says paw paw. We had a good laugh about that one.

That is so cool. Paul you are on a roll with everything that has to do with fishing!
The day after catching a lot of fish is still a good day.

Hank is a legend in my book, and his spinner bugs. Don't forget "cricket". I think he calls all soft plastics crickets. "Come on big girl, bite my cricket"

He will be in Waco this weekend, meet him last year a great guy. Roland Martin would not give us the time of day.

Hank is a Class Act. Way to go Paul!
Now Roland is a different story. I did see an interview where Roland said one of his biggest regrets was he wished he had been nicer to people throughout his career.

I've never met Hank, but would really like to. Comes across as a real class act.

Yep, I've seen the same interview Ken mentioned. Roland's "problem" is his ego and the fact that he is extremely introverted unless he knows you. I think a lot of his hatefulness comes from the fact that he really doesn't want to engage you in the first place. So it's his defense mechanism. I ate lunch with him at the Classic here in Houston. He was very nice to me and Allie but you know what really amazed me? At 77 then, he stills lives and breathes fishing. It was the final day, and Roland was fixated on his cell watching Edwin Evers trying to catch that bed fish on LIVE (which he never did). And Roland is in phenomenal physical condition. I wouldn't want to tussle with him! His son Scott is super cool.
I've met and visited with Hank and his lovely second wife, Martha several times. Both very nice people. Back in his tournament days, Hank was known to be every bit as big an arse as Roland.
