The rod you choose for throwing a lipless bait depends on if you are fishing it in open water areas or if you are ripping it out of grass. You will need a heavier action for ripping it out of grass.

I am still using a 7'-3" Abu Garcia MH Vendetta. It sure gets the job done for me and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

If you can find one a older 7-6 Castaway Launcher. Probably one of the best lipless crank & big spinnerbait slow roll rods made. And by far one of the best rods for whipping BIG fish in open water ever made.I still have 2 from the late 90s, no telling how many 6-10 lb. fish caught on them.

All Star T-38X flipping rod for me in shallow (3-7 ft) heavy grass, with braid. If the fish aren't eating it good or I'm fishing deeper water with thinner grass, I'll go to 12-15 lbs mono.

I like to use a Lew's 7'-3" Football Jig rod. It has plenty of backbone to rip the trap out of grass but lots of tip for long cast and not to rip hooks out of fish. I normally throw a trap on 20lb Sunline Sniper and use this rod both for 3/4 and 1/2oz traps.

Contact Impulse Rods, they are building a 7'6 Med Heavy that is similar to an old Castaway trap rod. The guys dug around and found a blank to match the action of the old one, it is a launcher and has enough tip to not rip out but still rip through grass. Great rod, but I just suck at fishing! I really liked that old castaway trap rod. When my last one broke I was pretty upset
I can backlash toilet paper.

I like the bucoo rig rod 1 if you can find it. 7'6 and perfect for 5/8-1oz traps. You can launch it with braid and backbone to rip grass
