40-50# braid. Reel of your choice in a 200 size 6.3 or better. Bobber stop above the swivel on braid especially if youre using tungsten. If you get hung up and try to jerk it that weight will pop the [censored] out of your knot and break your head or even the main line

i recently got a bigger reel for my carolina rig setup because I like to cast super far and/or fish deeper water with it. I got a Lew's Super Duty Wide Speed Spool SDW2XH with 50 pound braid. I used to use 20 or 30 pound braid to hold more line on the smaller reels, but with braid that thin I kept running into issues with the braid digging into itself.
