Never really cared for whippy type rods, but it seems the conventional wisdom supported them for dock shooting...well, imagine my surprise when that notion got knocked off its pedestal by a stiff bass rod with a fast tip...it wasn’t even a contest as to which rod/reel combo was better...as I always say, you are never too old to learn, you just have to be willing to do so...

A dab of gel super glue on your bait before you slide it up all the way on the jighead will work too. I always use a loop know when dock shooting to allow the bait a natural fall.

I have a Shakespeare 5.5 with a phleuger reel and it is controllable but still 'whippy'. I use hi-vis suffix. I'm not new to it just wanted better equipment.

Love my PAT rod.
Also great for trout fishing!
