Thoughts and prayers to family and friends. Never fished with Johnny, but listened to his reports every Sat and Sun morning for years. Looked forward to it actually. I missed out not booking a trip with Johnny. He will be missed.

Not to mention I watched him fillet 75 sand bass in about 10 minutes with a standard fillet knife. Truly amazing.

I like many others listened to his Saturday morning Fishing reports. He was on the water everyday guiding and fishing. Prayers for his family sent.

I have a lot of good memories sandbass fishing with him on Hubbard, he was one of the first guides I ever went with. I will miss his crazy stories he always had, our conversations and I will miss hearing his advice. I probably fished with Johnny 40 times in about 4 years, I went with him more than any other guide. He had an amazing fishing instinct, like a lot of people said he fished like almost every single day. If I wasn't fishing with him I would see him fishing with a client or fishing with "The Professor" and his crew. Every now and then Johnny would give me a free trip and even invited me to fish with him and his personal friends in his boat. When I first started booking trips with him he was really old school lol, he had a 5 inch black and white graph and a hand controlled trolling motor (which he never used lol).
I will definitely miss him, he wasn't just a guide I hired he was my friend as well.
RIP Cajun Guide

Still remember him in Dallas morning news with a picture of about 600 sandies on a dock way back in the early eighties late seventies.

I’ve never met Johnny nor ever spoken to him. I listen to the Texas Fishing and Outdoors show that Brian Hughes hosts on the weekends... Johnny would call in every Saturday and Sunday morning to give a report. He seemed like a very nice a guy. RIP sir.
