I would rather give someone a limit of 1-3 pound bass than a DD, but his fish, his choice.

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

This. I practice catch and release, but what the guys did was legal. It also may have provided food for a family that night. To each his own..

And this is what is wrong with our country. So many people are so self righteous and think that everyone should do what they say because they know better than everyone else.

YOU ARE THE ONE WHO IS WRONG! The fish is legal! Get off your high horse. You are disgusting for talking trash about something that is perfectly legal and actually nothing but a kind act from one human being to another.

Plus Chase only eats veggies so he would never think of it as meat anyway

Isnt this illegal? He caught the fish and then gave it to someone else on the water? What if he already had a limit or limited out after this? Now if he did this after he got off the water then so be it.

Well, that didn't go as planned. I'd have kept it.

I think it is sort of crazy to give someone a 10 pound bass to eat, but it takes all kinds. Two pounders would eat just as well or better if you want to give some fish away.

I'm with you, RazorBack. I have a friend I fish with that likes to keep bass every once in a while, I tell him we aren't keeping anything over 2.

Based on the evidence provided, Ranger boy did nothing wrong. Carry on.

I think most of you covered aspects of this topic I've considered. I've fished with a friend from Louisiana in his bass club tournaments on Toledo Bend. He and perhaps half his club members keep their fish. I haven't kept a bass to clean in 25 years. But I have no problem with anyone keeping fish. That's what we used to do. It is a little extreme to release every fish you catch and doing so almost becomes an obsession. I have no problem with anyone keeping fish and even keeping a ten pounder.

I do love to catch and clean sac-a-lait (crappie/white perch for Texans). But I even turn them loose at times.

I hate to see a DD hit the frying pan... but it bothers me even more when people try to push their beliefs on me.
