Yeah they sent out a letter warning dealers and team members. I'm sure that was a communication error at pro's choice. Anyways I find it hard to believe they would rig all these boats deliver them and expect a tight lid on information. I am wondering if they miscalculated how many pro xs engines would be sold this year.

I bet Mercury is loving the attention the motor is getting. Simple marketing. The "leaked" pictures have a purpose more than likely. This thread is proof its working.

The view from the front doesn't look to good to me. The shape just doesn't fit anything on a boat but it could be like new vehicle designs, after you see them a little bit they grow on you

These are very different times we live in. Think about it. 15 years ago if there was a new whatever introduced, you said, 'I heard they have one over at XXX dealer, and I'll swing by and give it a look at lunch'. That or you saw it at the boat show later. Now it's: 'wow, something new, click, click, click. Rest assured, the motors are ready, and likely out there by the thousands. But IF Mercury is not ready with the web page launch, they'll do everything they can to keep a lid on it till they have the site ready with all the photography, videos, spec's and splash for the big launch. Now days the web launch is as important as the paint being dry on the product. It may be 3 months before I actually see one of these, but I'll be all over it on the web. Different times.

Looks like the new 2018 Z21 Nitro elite. Maybe other boats are set up similar but I'm not sure if I like the idea of everything being controlled through the 16" Hds carbon mounted in the console. If you lose your depth finder for any reason you can't control livewell/bilge/navigation lighting functions or even see any motor info.

As for the motor it will come down to cost, will it perform at pro xs / Verado numbers at a cost point above or below those two mentioned above?

Not really an option. The 2S pro xs and v-rod will be discontinued due to not meeting emissions
