I am intrigued but still doubtful. hmmm

Way too many guys talking about it on various forums for it to be fake news. You could call Jacos Marine and get the 411, they would know better than just about anyone else would.

I would think ahead and consider what the resell market will be when youre ready to sell. My feeling is that most people will be running fours in the next 5 years so I would buy the four stroke.

They are pretty ugly but that's just my opinion, I'd go with the Pro XS. Sure you might use more oil but remember that oil change and all the extra moving parts on the 4 stroke. I heard they are a lot slower also.

well it would be a conversation piece for sure. I think for resale I would go with the new 4 stroke.

Those are not the engines being discussed in this thread at all...

The Mercury roll out for the new V8 four strokes is on May 18th. The 175-225 are supposed to start shipping in May sometime but the larger motors, who knows?
They have not yet announced the 250 four stroke yet. But yes, I would like to have the four stroke before the 2 stroke unless absolute top end was important. Not saying the new Mercury won't be able to match the 2 stroke but we won't know for sure until Mercury announces it and shows its numbers.

This is what the new V6 Mercs in 175 to 225 look like. There are no pics of the V8's around that I know of.

Well, I guess the G2 is no longer the ugliest motor on the market now......

Hmmmm.....well, they didn't tell that to the right people.

I raced (yep...fishing was slow for me yesterday) a boat the exact same size as mine yesterday. His was a Z18 with a 175 ProXs. Mine is a TZX190 with a 4 stroke Yamaha 150. After him slowly catching me after my faster holeshot, he eventually put two boat lengths on me.....4 miles up the lake!

My guess is if he have had the SAME SIZE MOTOR AS MINE, he'd have NEVER caught my "lesser" 4 stroke.

You have not mentioned the price difference...did they tell you how much that would be? That would make a difference for me.

Makes a person wonder what Yamaha has been doing to their assembly line the past few weeks, to compete with this news.

Why exactly is the SHO 6 months out, or whatever the real figure is??? I read somehwere on this forum recently someone saying they are 6 months behind......how? Are they really selling that many motors?

Thats what I mean, yami is up to something unknown to any of us. They knew this new merc was coming, the competition always does.

Put me down for four stroke. I've owned both and like the fours a lot better.
