The following is just a guideline--where to start the problem solving 1. Divide the lake into thirds. As stated above, the earliest spawners tend to be in the north eastern part of the lake (protected from cold north winds and gets the most sun) 2. Go back in time on Google Earth until you can see more of the bank (on the posted pic, I've circled the whitest/rockiest looking banks) Sometimes it'll be the rockiest area and sometimes it'll be the transitional area where softer bottom meets the rockier ground 3. Banks that are close to a channel swing toward the bank tend to be better 4. Areas with grass, other cover, and other structure will be better Thanks. I actually looked at some of these areas but ruled them out. Looks like I have a ways to go haha.

For April start looking in the buck brush and Hydrilla south of the bridge in 2-4 foot of water to see if you can fish nd beds. Mark the areas you see them ( they will be consistently building beds in the same pockets. Look for the lanes in the grass, and follow the fish to their deeper water homes.

I would be up the river getting into those North cuts and the thickest cover I could find.

There were TONS of fish staging on those points you posted on Wednesday. There are a few small finger type points you can see from the actual aerial picture that have 2-4' of water on them and run out to the channel there as they drop off. Fish were super active and feeding up. None we caught had spawned out yet. Water temps were 58-60ish.

On Toledo some travel miles to spawn. But it's an enourmous lake with tremendous off shore structure. Some lakes are more condensed. In my experience, the big creeks and rivers on the north end of lakes have resident fish that never see the main lake

Thanks for all the help. Went out despite the wind and lightning. Wind was brutal.
I was able to catch some decent fish. Never threw anything besides a squarebill crawfish. Caught plenty of green fish and even quite a few hybrids on the darn thing.
Thanks again guys. I wiped the skunk off the new boat.

Some great information here. Since its getting closer towards the end of spawn, I would look at the lower end of the lake, closer to the main lake for spawners. The fish we caught on tbe north end of that lake on Wedbesdayvwere not spawned out. There also were no fry swimming around either. We caught a bunch on the north end and not a single fish had spawned yet. Water was cooler than expected.

Its been 2 days of warmer weather and its a little off colored water so it will warm up fast. Probably could have seen fish on beds today in some spots.
