I use to use gas but like you JP they were always needing something to keep them running. I switched over to battery because I hate dragging cords around. The only downside I have is the size of my lot I need several batteries to complete the job. But that is nothing but a slight annoyance. I'm even looking at a battery lawn mower when mine dies since they are only a few dollars more than gas.

Dragging a cord around is a pain in the you know what. I ran electric blower on a 1/4 acre lot and the smallest driveway around and got fed up with it.

Not to mention I use my stuff where no electrical boxes are found...deer lease, ect.

I got a buddy who worked on mine this year for $25 an hour. Blower and Weed Eater repaired with complete carb kit and spark plug...$75! It's $75 an hour charge at the lawn and garden place.

Switching to non ethanol gas....and I feel it will make some difference. My diaphragm on my Stihl fell apart after a few years, it's right under the primer bulb. Talking to a buddy....he was tearing down his 30 year old Stihl pole saw (found in his uncles garage)....hasn't ran gas in 30 years. Diaphragm was in perfect condition, he even took a brush to it....mine fell apart when I gently wiped it with a soft rag. That says enough about this corn ridden gas we use!! I'm done with it. Longview has one gas station they offer it at.

If it's like the cordless drills, you have to buy batteries every year. That is costly too! More costly than the hour charge at the Lawn and Garden.

They want you to buy a new drill every time, marking up batteries like that!

I'm thinking about moving to all electric/battery tools from now on, except for my zero turn mower. They just seem like less work and maintenance.

If electric tools make you question your manhood, then you must not have a lot of confidence in it.

My last gas powered lasted 15 years. I hope my new Stihl will do the same. If it gets hard to crank at some point.... Remove the air filter and shoot a starter fluid in the carb and run some seafome through it. It will run like a scalded ape.
