Depends on what you want: Lowrance's simplicity, Humminbird's clear images, or Garmin's Panoptix. For 2k I don't think you can get Panoptix or MEGA imaging. I think you're looking at a base unit for 2k, but there might be some good deals out there for something better. I personally like my HDS 12's but they're gonna run more than 2k. Maybe look at a Lowrance HDS 9 or Humminbird Helix 9.

Garmin is coming out with a new Garmin Ultra. It is like the mega from Bird. I have used all 3 and Garmin has been the best for me. You don't need to buy brand new. Tom Reddington was selling some garmins. He had to 8's left and both will do panoptix. You can get a PS21 transducer used for around $500 to $600. If you want new go to Bass pro shops.

If you are looking for good bang for your buck, check out the Lowrance Elite-12 Ti.

I fish as a co in ABA and have seen a bunch of different graphs. The picture quality and clarity on the Humminbird Helix is amazing.

If you go with humminbird go with the mega imaging. It is night and day different in image quality over the older units. I am finding stuff in areas I have fished hundreds of times that I didnt know was there. I ot mine through bbg marine. He gave me a great deal. Give Greg a call.
