Last night, the redhead & I were skimming through Netflix movies and it recommended "Battlefield Earth" based on my viewing history. Apparently the Netflix matching algorithms think that Star Trek fans will automatically love anything remotely sci-fi related. This is one of the first weekends that I haven't had to study, so I figured why not.

This is now my candidate for the worst movie I've ever seen. I mean seriously, if the aliens were able to conquer our planet in 9 MINUTES during the early 21st century, with all the education, training, technology, and communications that we have now ... then how in the world can an audience possibly be expected to believe that the cave-dwelling remnants of humanity could defeat them? And, apparently, the producers/writers/directors all believe that books and jet fuel have a 1,000 year shelf life.

Idiots.

Worst movie ever made ... even worse than "Plan 9 from Outer Space". But I guess it's worth a few laughs to see John Travolta walking around wearing an oversized codpiece.

Battlefield earth is awful but for some reason I watch it every time I flip past it. Like a car wreck you just can't not look

A comparison of worst movie you've watched and worst movie ever.
The worst I've watched was "The Crawling Hand". About a space capsule plummeting to earth and about to hit LA so they detonated it. Then a hand showed up and started killing people. I was a kid and it was at the movie theatre. I now watch about 2 movies per decade at a theatre.


I don't know what the worst movie ever was or have an idea what it would be. About 3/4 of the movies I've seen listed on TV sound lame so I don't give them a chance. Then about half the movies I think might be worth watching were not so I change the channel.

If you enjoyed Travolta in a codpiece check out Zardoz for Sean Connery in a diaper. That movie's only redeeming feature is the use of Beethoven's 7th, second movement at both the start and the end.

That movie about the time capsul and the hand sounds pretty good.
