You catch as many big ones and dedicate as much time as he has, you can fish where you want and weigh them how you want imo

Same as hunting behind High Fence, Yes it's a Trophy but just not the same as one that comes off of public land or water

I don't know the guy. I've exchanged one message with him in the past. Seemed like a nice enough guy. I do have to admit I'm disappointed to have read that thread. For that many folks to be ready to tar and feather him, there is probably at least a little truth in there. That said, take a look at his social media pages. If even 10% of those fish are legitimate he's caught more 15 lb+ bass than 99.9% of those alive. It would be interesting indeed to hear his take on things. Two sides to most stories.

Looks like it was caught out of a jon boat with a transom mount trolling motor. Love small lake fishing! I remember reading Doug Hannon's book years ago. He said one of the worst things to do is fish from a high profile metal flake bass boat. Big fish in shallow water can see those a mile away. He used an aluminum jon that he spray painted to mimic waves on it's sides and wore clothing that would blend with the sky. At the time, he was credited with catching more fish over ten pounds than any one alive.

He's got some amazing underwater footage of giants eating trout. Say what you want about the guy but he's dedicated and I enjoy the footage.

The whole SD thread about Mike Long was disappointing. I have never met the man nor will I pass judgement on him based on what I have read. He does indeed put out some quality video and seems to be extremely dedicated to the sport.

He does indeed put out some quality video and seems to be extremely dedicated to the sport. Yeah, that story came out several years ago. I wonder how many days a year he fishes. No doubt he is an incredibly great big bass fisherman. I will say this though...he absolutely lives in the right area for giants. A perfect storm, great angler in the best spot. I would love to see what he could catch at Fork, given a couple of years to learn it.

Those San Diego lakes are highly pressured waters, deep and extremely clear. It is not easy to go out there and catch these fish. Most have stores that you can rent aluminum boats. The hard core guys have their own rigs with pretty sweet setups. I spent a some days fishing out there a couple years ago in the spring. I was extremely humbled. Seen some absolute Giants cruising around and some on beds. Stuck a couple decent fish. Public waters and easily accessible for anyone to fish, true trophies in my book. If it was so easy you would see multiple people catching fish like this every year. Several boats in the water fishing during the week while I was there. You cannot compare this to private lakes like Camelot Bell that only few people get to fish. Just my 2 cents.
