Question I have never used waterdogs. HOw do you hook them? I hook them on a weedless hook, right through the mouth. No weight as they'll swim to the bottom. Drop them on a bass bed and it's instant fish! I used to guide on Fayette and with newer anglers and kids, I'd always bring some waterdogs so they'd be sure to catch fish. I had a lady not set the hook on a fish one winter day and a near lake record fish jumped right at the boat and spit the waterdog right at her! It was funny because she left thinking that double digit bass on Fayette was normal! By the way, as an experiment, I tried them on a few other lakes where nobody sold them...like Bastrop. I couldn't buy a bite. I had 5-6 bedding fish run away from them on a bed...it was weird. Fayette and Fork, they're used so much I think fish just see them as forage.

I don't know one person that has caught a large bass using them. Last time I fished with Water Dogs me and my buddy bought 2 dozen.....caught 23 bass all > 7 lbs.....Expensive....but hell...small price for hauling in 23 fish of that size in one day!!!

Question I have never used waterdogs. HOw do you hook them? We use to run the hook threw both lips and mouth giving the waterdog freedom to swim. Also we would Carolina Rig them and just drag them along the bottom. Bass would just smash the hell out of them. If you get one next to BIG BOY, I guarantee he is going to eat it.

I don't know one person that has caught a large bass using them. Me either, I know multiple. lol jk I've only used them once and I caught 1 fish around 5 lbs. Think that was on Monticello in the 90s.

They are good for filling the freezer with succulent black bass. Yep, Fork has too many undersized bass. People need to keep more to eat.

Try Fishermans Supply off I-30 in Garland. It is about a mile before you get to Ray Hubbard on the eastbound side. This.

Last time I got them was at Hideaway Harbor on Fork. Carolina Rigged them and fished them on deep humps before the spawn. Never caught anything less that 6 lbs.

Biggest I ever caught on a live waterdog (weedless 4/0 hook through both lips, unweighted) were a 4-03 Largemouth and a 3-15 Rainbow Trout, both from Eloika Lake, Washington not long after ice out. Never have used them here at home.
