we have plenty of Haas, VF4, VF6 and VF7. they're cheap machines at best. the 20 year old Mori is way sturdier. We just got in a Mazak FJV 60/80. what a beast! it has the smooth G controller. looks like something out of star wars.

I worked in a machine shop for three years after high school. The first two years were without heat or air. It got insanely hot in the summer. And yes the QC guy would come back in the mornng and tell me my deminsions were .003 smaller on some materials during the summer. Mostly just ran manual lathes and mills. Occasionally I would get stuck operating a cnc when we were running a large production of one part. Those were the most boring days ever.

We have toyoda and Heller CNC machines. We hold tolerances of +-.013mm on diameters and .050mm on positioning all day long at a CP CPK of 1.33 shooting for 1.67. We are climate controlled. Our CMM labs humidity and temperature are both held very tight. We have a central coolant system that holds the temp of the coolant at 72 +-2.5 degrees all the time. It is possible BUT super expensive. Cat has the $$.
I guess to sum it up...it's possible, you just better be willing to pay for it.

Before I retired we bought a 4 million dollar Makino 30,000 rpm 1500 IPM. capable of 15 cubic inches of removable per min.. At least that's what they told me to quote parts at.. They also bought 2 5 axis SNK's that were amazing extremely accurate and durable.. All vertical milling centers, much better chip management.. Ahhh that was some fun stuff, sucks when your health sidelines you just when it get interesting.. We used some Mastercam systems, but not much, mainly Catia V6 for design and programming... I was over methods and the engineering department for 8 yrs before the hammer dropped. The giant Gantrys we had were over a football field long with 4 -3 spindle 5 axis bridges on each.. We had 3, the foundation for each was 6 foot deep with piers every 10 x10 foot an amazing amount of concrete...
