I bought mine fro a 21 foot pontoon boat last year with 80lb thrust and it holds me over the brush very well in most conditions. I may have to look into getting the three blade prop. I will also say that the liftsaver mount Blue Nitro is awesome addition and great product.

After having one I would quit fishing before I would give it up. Xi5 is the one.

Yes, it has the anchor feature. The Xi3 is to be MotorGuides lower end units and the Xi5 will be the higher end units.

Gps is motor guide anchor feature, called spotlock on Minn Kota. Sonar is internal sonar transducer that can be connected to a Sonar head but it is sonar only. No DI.
Depsndes on what you want the motor to do or provide.
Thanks for responding Finaddict thumb

I've had mine for a little over a year now, nothing but praise to say about it. Also will ditto going to the 3 blade prop. It's quieter, less vibration, and slightly more speed.

Got over two hundred hours on mine and have not even opened the remote to change the batteries.

You got Lucky, when I picked mine up brand new the remote wouldn't work opened it up and the batteries were so corroded they looked like mold or something growing on them, took it to a Motorguide service center they cleaned out the remote and I put in fresh batteries still had to open it up at least once a trip, after 3 trips back to the shop and buying a new remote I gave up and just used the foot control the rest of the time I had it, if you go online you'll see tons of folks have the same issue, but like I said that was the only problem I had with it in 2 years was the remote

Xi5 is a great tool. I really enjoy mine over the previous Terrova, which was the original. MK's 'Spot On' should have been aptly called 'Nearly Spot On, Plus or Minus 20-50'. But it's just part of the technology maturity process like all these gadgets go thru.

As far as the MG's remote, I have no problem with it except I am so use to MK's remote I more than occasionally press the wrong button since the template is different. Also, the original remote for MK was junk also. They've since upgraded it and is real good. The MG doesn't have a display. I do miss that on MG remote but I think that is because I started with the MK remote to begin with. If it hadn't had the display, I probably wouldn't have noticed it.

As others have said, the LiftSaver is an effective accessory that will help to safely guard the Xi5 in a variety of situations. I think the LiftSaver is made for some of the MK products too.

As far as bridges go, depending on the bridge span, weather, terrain, sky cover, etc., ANY GPS TM can have difficulty under a bridge. So whether your brain prefers to use the foot or your hand, it is the same for ALL TMs, with or without GPS capability.

You guys sure cost me a bunch of money today bang... New XI5 with the bells and whistles mounted on Double Time. woot Thank you for the responses and the help, I appreciate it. Goin in the AM to try her out, a little windy right now. Just a heads up, anyone in the Concho Valley needing anything for your boat, give Proline Trolling Motors a shot. I'm glad I did... thumb

I bought mine used with a year of warranty left. I have had the motherboard replaced twice, Pinpoint GPS replaced once and both GPS modules replaced twice. I just had the mother board replaced for the second time and when I got to the lake I no longer have a GPS signal. Motorguide's customer service has been nothing short of amazing. My motor has been out of warranty for a year and they still sent me the mother board for free and I just had to pay labor. The motor is great when it works, but I have had really bad luck with mine. I wish MG would come out with a new model because I got a bad Xi5 and I'm sick of it being in the shop all the time.

Look at the new xi3. Lower priced as it does not have foot control and is 70 lb.
