Went out again yesterday with objective to fish another shallow (10 to 15 fow) structure to see if I could find and catch fish there to verify that fish were indeed on the shallow pattern. So, I fished Saint Annes Point East and they were there. Had a limit plus a 5lb black bass in a couple of hours with wind blowing like crazy from the north. Now, I'm thinking the pattern has definitely changed and suspecting that fish are coming back into the lake from the creeks.
Then my suspicion was confirmed late yesterday. About 6 PM I went out on the dock to see if crappie had come in under it. Was getting no bites, then heard some seagulls. I looked south and saw a huge flock of gulls hovering and diving down on Saint Annes Point. This was not like the 4 or 5 you see over a cormorant or loon - way too many gulls for that. So, I dropped the boat into water and eased over that way. As I got near I could see an occasional slash that was not caused by a bird. So. I stated casting and caught 1st legal hybrid in a couple of months. Caught fish on almost every cast catching 2 more hybrids and 25 big whites before I quit. The fish were in water from 6 fow to 20 fow. To me this was confirmation that fish were back in the main lake, and the spring, main lake white bass/hybrid bite is on.

Thanks for the report Dennis, hopefully they will be feeding heavily for the next few weeks post spawn. Look forward to seeing you out there.

Dennis, thanks for the good info. I’ll start looking in some shallower areas next time out.

"Riding high in April, shot down in May!" Well, "That's life!" - as Frank Sinatra would say. Went out a couple of times since the heavy rains Tuesday night and early Wednesday, and the fishing is off again. Just couldn't find many. This happened a few weeks ago the last time we got heavy rains. But, I am optimistic that, after several days, fishing will pick up again. Grandson coming to fish today, so I hope I can find some.

I was also out yesterday after the sun came out and checked from Merrimac to E St Annes and found many small schools but as you nothing worth stopping to fish. Also suspect a lot of the marks I saw may have been cats. Good luck today. Put the boy on a monster.

Grandson and I got out at 5 PM. We checked Saint Annes Points East and West and found no fish. We motored eastward to Swing-set Hump and found some. Caught about 20 there in 16 fow before they stopped, then went farther east to Flagpole Point and caught another 9 before we had to stop at 6:30 PM and go home to grill burgers for supper. All fish caught on #4 silver Mepps plain Aglia. All fish were white bass from 10 to 15 inches.

In spite of the high south winds on Saturday, the grandson and I got out again and headed to protected water at the dam. Even there it was choppy and the wind was challenging the iPilot to keep us reasonably close to our spot-locked position - the boat going forward, backward, and side to side. That, of course, only became a problem when we finally found fish. We had checked out Campbell's Hump, Dam Drop-off, Dam Ridge and West Dam Hump with one fish to show for it. Finally, we found fish near the west end of Dam Hump West of the Pole in 20 fow. We caught 29 more there before the iPilot battery gave out trying to keep the boat in place (I had forgotten to charge it overnight). We ended up with 27 whites, a 17 inch hybrid, a black bass and a crappie. Sam with nice white: Sam with his fish and mine:
