The crowds have picked up with each passing week but nothing extreme. The good news is they are catching white bass in all the creeks so there are miles of creek to fish all by yourself.
The west side of Rocky Creek park is usually very good in the last half of April and first half of May.

Newman's Bottom continues to be on fire. Had my limit by 8:20. Another 50 plus day. Even was brave enough to pull out my fly rod and caught my first fishes with it. Get out there why their there. When I drove past Nails Creek, it did not appear to be flowing anymore, but I did not get out and look closely.

Thanks for the report, EllerTroy. Thinking about targeting the crappie in Nails or Cedar Creek this Sunday. Don't really care about limits of anything, just want to catch a few fish for the frying pan and enjoy the nice weather.

I left work early and headed out to Newman's bottom this afternoon. It was another excellent day. Since I've already had a great numbers day my focus was on catching a few trophies. I headed straight to my favorite spot that holds big females. I ended up catching 39 with several in the 1.8 to 2.0 lb range but no 2.5 lb pig like Jon caught. You should have thrown that one back for me to catch Jon I did catch a 17 inch white bass today though. I gave away a dozen to a lady. That was about all she could carry that 1/2 mile back to her vehicle. Those dozen were the biggest I caught too. I weighed 3 of them and they were 1.8, 1.85 and 1.97 lbs. so the stringer had to be around 20 lbs or so. There's still time, maybe I'll get that 2.5 lber. before the season is over. I know I'll have lots of fun trying

And that you had the fun of catching some on the fly rod.

Very nice J-moe. Hopefully my hour and a half drive on Saturday pays off again. I have never had three trips in a row with a limit so we are going to try to break my personal record. My wife is not liking me much but I told her we have to get it while it's hot. And the fishing is hot right now.

Nice, J-Moe. The work thing is a real drag this time of year when the fishing gets good.

I talked to the wife and if the weather is OK we might take the baby on a short walk around Newman's on Sunday afternoon.
I'll take a rod of course and I might even pack a fly rod and see if I can't catch a couple white bass for dinner and a few fillets for the freezer.
Weather has to be good but at least it is an opportunity!
