Does anybody fish Canyon or have reports. I'm thinking about dragging the boat down over springbreak.

Water temp 9 days ago was 60 at noon on a cloudy day. I was just running the boat around after doing maintenance and didn't fish.

You live in DFW and want to fish Canyon Lake? Lol! In all seriousness, Canyon isn't fishing it's best right now, but it's also not fishing terrible. Well, for the guys that did well in the TTZ tourney there last weekend it wasn't fishing terrible. For me, it is fishing terrible and I fish there a lot. TTZ has the results posted. That said, if you wanna fish during Spring Break you're gonna have to fight with the Spring Breakers. And they put up one hell of a fight on that lake. If it were me, I'd fish the river as it should fish well at that time. The main lake will fish ok, but you'll have to cover a lot of water to find the better quality. If you fish the river, throw a crankbait, spinnerbait, or flip n pitch something. Blue fleck worms are popular on that lake. The water is clear on the main lake and you'll have to fish a little deeper. Crankbaits are a good bet.

put in at the mouth of the river. the fish don't relate much to the standing timber. look for transitions from flat shale rock to gravel banks in the river bends. green pumpkin/blue speed craws work well tx rigged.

I fished in the TTZ tournament there last Saturday. Water is 54/55 degrees. Fishing is Tough. I caught 1 fish. It was 5.15 pounder. I caught it in 2 ft of water, near some brush on a white chatterbait. We mostly fished deep because that's where we had the most luck pre-fishing, but from talking with others, the fish were shallow. Most of people who cashed a check were up the river.

also if you fish the river be careful. I scratch the [censored] out of the bottom of my boat on stumps that were IN THE MIDDLE of the creek channel, in 20 ft of water

There are still trees in the channel. The first quarter of the river isn't too bad. After that, I always idle. Lots of people blow through the whole river, but I don't recommend that.

I wasn't trying to steer you away, just giving you the real deal on Canyon. I forgot to mention that if you like to flip n pitch, throw something on the smaller side, like a 3" craw instead of a 4".

My buddy and I fished the TTZ tournament too. We started at the mouth of the river and caught nothing but dinks. We ended up catching 3 keepers working points with a C-Rig in Jacobs which is funny because that is where we launched from...but you just never know LOL.

Hmmm, if it were me, and the TTZ tournament released all their fish in Jacobs Creek, I would think that might be a good place to start. Some of them should be looking to spawn and should still be there by spring break, plus the ramps in Jacobs Creek are great compared to many of the other ramps on Canyon.

You know it's funny, the people that do the best on that lake and win the tournaments, are the guys that never have been on that lake before or havent been on it in 8+ years.
Biggest Thursday Nighters bag of 20+ pounds last year was from a guy that had never been on the lake. Winners of TTZ this year hadnt been on that lake in 8 years. The TTZ winners from 2 years ago hadnt been on that lake either until then
