That said...for those of you who "need" cheaper guns so you can buy more, I'd suggest what you really need are bigger paychecks, not cheaper guns.
Cheaper guns are not a net win for our culture. They are for the corporate firearm industry, though...for whatever that's worth to ya'.

we can only hope for the kind of safety that an extra 100 mil guns would provide our children. Instead of arming the teachers why dont we just lower the age of concealed carry so that highschool kids can legally carry and prtect tehmselves? does there 2nd amendment right not apply?

again with apples and hand-grenade comeback. medicine(not made to kill people) is working non-stop and spending billions of dollars to SAVE people. Cars(not manufactured to kill people) have had govt mandates for decades to make them safer with strict safety guidelines, same with aircraft
ridiculous comparison
My semi-automatic rifles were not manufactured to kill people. How many lives have semi-automatic rifles saved vs killed? It's not a ridiculous comparison. comparing food, forks and medical care to an AR is about as disingenuous and trite as it gets. An AR is made to kill people. It was slightly altered from war weapons to make it legal at the time. All guns are manufactured to kill stuff. Like a hammer meets a nail. there is no other reason. Like sporting clays and trap shotguns? Match-grade, benchrest rifles? Hand guns used in shooting competitions? Those target rifles they use in the Olympics?

OK. A generation ago guns were commonly in the window rack of pickups in school parking lots. Something wrong with the youngs. They're not right in the head. If you don't want a gun don't buy one. If you're ever in need of assistance make sure it's not someone with a gun protecting you. #mace #rapewhistle we can only hope for the kind of safety that an extra 100 mil guns would provide our children. I agree. I see lots of talk about guns but very little about what has happened, what changed about 20 years ago that made this a thing kids would do? Whats different with parents or society as a whole, or the media... I mean those are the things we need to look into. Plus the guns are out there, you cant snap your fingers and they are gone. Make them illegal or harder to get and the only result will be only the bad guys who dont follow laws anyways have them. I also agree if you dont like guns dont buy one...that said I would say the same for abortion, if your against them great. But dont tell someone else whats right for them! I am a live and let live guy.

how to spend someone elses money now??? geez, struggling. Come on man. If that's your honest takeaway from what I said, then I'm not the one that's struggling here. My point is, and was, that cheaper guns don't provide a net benefit to our society.

again, why is the argument about limiting ONE gun AR's the next comment is about banning all guns?? NO ONE HAS EVER in the history of this argument said ban all guns? It would impossible and no one is arguing that. Obama is not building death camps and Bill Clinton is not coming for your shotgun. The discussion was brought up about the AR no other weapon. The truth is that it is the "barbie doll" of the gun culture and people have made it some sort of twisted symbol for the US. sad, we used to be about more than a gun.

I guess what I don't understand is why all the animosity towards AR-type rifles? Tactically speaking, within the confines of a building you are probably better off with a pistol. I wouldn't want a rifle until targets are beyond 30 yards or so. With a minimal amount of training or practice one can shoot a semi-auto handgun just as fast as they can the rifle.
Remember back in the early 90's that guy that shot up the Luby's? He had two 9mm pistols and killed 23 people. Injured another 27. Back then AR-style rifles were illegal. So how could there be mass shootings?
It just simply doesn't make sense to go after the tool.

Yeah, like family values and Christianity. Take God out of the schools and the home, take fathers out of kid's lives and this is what you get. Not a gun problem.

It is difficult to discuss common sense crime control with people who eat soap and can't figure out which bathroom to use.
