Raise he77 with the flight crew. If that didn't help, I'd be talking to the airline. And, I would have said something to the mother. Nicely. Once.

A gag?
Land the plane an get Mom and kid off.
There is something mental about the kid. Spanking or some other punishment might not have worked.
Should a locked the kid in a suitcase and put him in the luggage compartment.

Just one whack. Please.
Or, just let me talk to the kid, one on one. Kids usually like me but still fear me.

I wouldve found a way to slip the kid a couple of Benadryl and then emptied my bank account on booze.
Unaceptable.

I was looking for something like autism, my son has Aspergers, but what i saw was a need for corrective discipline.

When a child screams like that I have a kneejerk reaction to slap him. I fight it.

Let us say you are on a flight, and a kid is screaming non-stop, and even though they try, and they too want a peaceful flight, what can another passenger do?
Well, if you have something to possibly help "distract" the kid from the screaming, check with the parents and see if they are cool with it...you know, like giving him/her candy, an object to is interesting, whatever. Outside of that, you cannot interject yourself into the situation on your own.
If it persists, complain to the stewardess, but I'm surmise they already know. If it's so loud and unruly, I'd surmise it's up to the pilot to possibly land the plane somewhere and ask the parents to leave the plane.

Just direct the kid to the emergency door and tell him to pull on the handle.

Here's something to consider. If an adult were behaving like this on a plane, what would the outcome likely be?
A screaming child is one thing, but being that physically out-of-control warrants restraint in an in-flight commercial airliner.

I couldn't have kept my mouth shut. They need to hook the whole plane up with free drinks for the duration of the flight.
You are not a good or nice person.

Put hand over mouth. If they bite you or continue spank, hand on a bare but. Tell them you love them and give them a hug. If they start over repeat.
