Preferably pinto. Chili without beans is, well, I'll keep it family friendly and just say without beans it ain't worth eatin.

Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.

That was farm life during the 1930s in Josephine, TX.

I put beans in my chili. Red kidney and chili beans. I also eat hot dogs with mustard ( no mayo or ketchup), onions and chili with beans. If you don't like beans, that's okay. I think most major chili competitions do not allow beans but whatever.

I have no way to prove this but I would imagine that in the early days, dried beans were easily stored. They were probably eaten with everything.

Oh, by the way; you are only screwing up chili when you put things like chunks of celery, mushrooms or God forbid, spaghetti noodles in it.
Mustard on a hot do is the only way to do have it.(mayo and ketchup suk)

What sicko puts mayo on a hot dog

The same creep that would put beans in chili

I didn't know that. All westerns I've watched they lived on beans and biscuits. They also had a lot of bacon but I never saw a hog. noidea
