Mr. JayC41
I was surmising, and the obvious part is "that I don't know why there are so many concussions now," many more then when we played years and years ago. Could it be that football players are so much bigger today, that the impacts are that much harder now?

I don't know. Maybe nobody knows why exactly. Oh, and yes, I haven't held a new helmet in a long, long time, but I would bet they are way lighter than in the past.

Addendum: Football "helmets" must be weaker or something, probably because they are lighter. Back when I played, when many of us did last century, we did not have near the head injuries that are happening now. The Southlake Carrol coach seems to be getting his bell rung now.

Back when you played, no one knew what constituted a head injury or the long term ramifications of repeated, seemingly insignificant hits to the head could do over time.

I believe that, because of increased awareness, there seems to be more concussions now than in the past. I am not convinced the number has increased, but the number of reported concussions sure has. I had my bell rung numerous times when I was young and no one knew but me and I sure was not going to tell anyone.

Your post is the one thats shameful... nobody said a darn thing that was racist or that certain folks should live in certain areas. Nobody faulted parents for working hard to better themselves. Theres a big difference in working your way up and having someone give you success because your offspring is good at a sport. I'd say you sir are the one that looks down on others as lesser people. nearly every post you make proves that point. Glad you had success in your life, but I really wonder how you can walk anywhere without tripping over stuff with that nose pointed so high in the air. bang

I am sure if he gets fired they can easily land Peterman the former Desota coach.

DHunter,
You are probably right about that.

As to the coach's status, the details will probably come out soon enough.

Didn't mean to left-turn this topic.

2011 is a long time to wait for Southlake to "wait" for a championship.

I wonder what happens to those parents who worked hard and rose up to places like Southlake, Aledo, Allen once their kid graduated from high school?

As happykamper stated, Hal is a fine man. Ive worked for Hal and he doesnt run a dirty program. Now he may be a pain in the [censored] to work for but hes an upstanding Christian man who doesnt even drink nor curse. I know the story but not at liberty to spread it. And some of the other recruiting comments are comical.

I hate to tell you but recruiting does happen in HS especially at the schools mentioned. To think it doesnt is comical. The head coach himself my not be involved but the administration, school board, etc can find ways to bring kids into a school district.
