Im surprised that cabelas is under performing with their sales. Although Bass Pro Shops prices are expensive, he sure has figured out something to be making so much money.

BPS has already laid off their greeters and after the first there will probably be more. Kinda curious about what's up, the Garland BPS parking lot is full of boats that just came in. Must be at least 150-200 boats in the parking lot.

Cabela's has always had an issue with profitability and under performing, and the main reason they got bought out. They hovered in the 3-5% profit range which upset many of the major investors.

I don't see how BPS stays open!!! All of the overhead in those stores with very little foot traffic IMO. Seems like it should take a 40-50% profit to keep those places alive and well. I have been to every Tx BPS this year and it was a ghost town every time I was in. Surely they aren't selling that much apparel or private label....

Correct their inventory turns have always been low.
This isnt the first round either. In Sydney Nebraska there are around 200 homes for sale and the real estate market has plunged.
I know a lot of people that lost their jobs 6 months ago over this deal. Most were very well paying buyer or marketing jobs.

Retirement best job ever.

You should have been at the Garland BPS last Friday & Saturday. Like to have never found a place to park and it was like the State Fair Midway inside. Every check out was full.

I'm sure they have days like that but I run a major retail store and know what it takes to keep the "investors happy". I bet those stores are $150 million+ each to build. I just cant imagine how they get out of the red....

Grapevine is a little slow during the workday but after people get off they always fill up and forget about the weekend.

Johnny Morris doesn't have any investors but he got a whole lot of money, I mean a WHOLE lot.

Bass Pro Shop is like Buc-ee's. Build it and they will come, and more than likely someone is going to buy something.

So you buy out another business and lay off people so you can make even more money than you already do. That is just sorry. Now people are out of a job because of his greed.

That gives me even more reason not to shop at Bass Pro. His prices are too high also.
