It might be a little early. I plan on checking it out in early January. The river should be in good shape now. However, if we don't get rain soon I would expect shallow water conditions come Febuary/March when it heats up.

Yeah probably a little early yet. I remember last year some were catching them in December. Seemed like an early start last year. I may make a run down some time during the Holidays..

Some local fishing groups on facebook have been whacking them pretty good for the past 2-3 weeks Yeah I've seen some of that. Weird thing is, they are saying up by Airport, I figured you'd find them at 59 bridge long before they showed up at airport....

We've caught them during this time of year at the mouth of the River and in the river as they stage to start the run. Did good in the river around 59 bridge on up after that. If they are catching them up by airport already-- it must be global warming
My stringer is getting there!!

There are fish in the river from the airport down to the lake. Not in big numbers, but if you know what you are doing you can pick up a limit of fish!

I live on the river and there are fish but the run hasnt even began to start yet. Not worth all the gas to fish right now in my opinion. Doesnt cost me much but for someone coming down from San Antonio or something I think January would be better. Like I said just my opinion but Ive lived here 32 years. If you cant catch 75 or more fish an hour then run isnt spot on.

Buddies still limiting out, but did say it is more males than females so I agree with jlfish, probably another week or two.

Howdy, I'd love to get some info on this Nueces River run. Not looking for anyone's secrets, just some basic info, like where to launch, etc. I live on Canyon Lake, and am ready to tow the boat somewhere else! Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance! Lindsay

Thanks in advance! Lindsay Head south on I-37, exit onto 59 towards George West. 59 will cross over the river, there is a boat ramp under the bridge, travel down river a few miles and start trolling. Oh and a friend is doing good and whites and stripers there on Canyon lake, they're there, just a tough lake to learn.
