I'm close to pulling trigger on a new backpack blower. Looking at the Stihl and Husqvarna brands as I feel they are top two. Plan to spend $400 ish.

Anyone have advice/preference?

Stihl. Husq tends to be more Home Depot grade. Stihl considered pro grade.

I have never owned husq of anything-
I have owned stihl for many years and can attest to the high quality-

Everyone I know with a backpack blower uses an Echo. I have two. They are very dependable.

You can't go wrong with Stihl or Echo. That's what you see people who do it for a living using.

Go green, go with the Stihl 58V lithium battery. You will thank me down the road. Go test one before you judge. Lasts 2 hours before you have to recharge.

NO QUESTION - Stihl.

I would do the Lithium Battery if I were doing a new one no doubt.

Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

Stihl all the way. I got the Husqvarna and while it worked well it just didn't have the power I really needed. I could have spent $150 more and gotten what i needed.

I bought a Makita four stroke blower this year and really like it so far. Very powerful and quite.

I think Husqvarna is mostly sold by Lowe's but I get your point. I think the motors in Husqvarna are generally Honda or at least in their mowers. That said I only use the blower that snaps into my Roybi weedeater and it works great for what I do in my garden home size yard.

Stihl. My br420 that I bought used is still running strong after 12 years of use. Ive read good things about the echo back pack blowers.
