Ray Murski owned Strike King before his untimely death in 2011. Dunno if this is his company selling or if SK has changed hands since Mr. Murski's passing.

I've mentioned before that the owner (former now) of Strike King, John Barns, is one of my best friends. You are correct in that Ray did originally buy SK from Charles Spence and there was always a plan in place for a gradual conversion of ownership to John. Not sure exactly when that seamless transition finalized. From what I hear, the consumer will not see a change in the company nor its products. Happy for John. He is truly one of the good guys. Hope I still get my annual "care package " of SK goodies!!!

Hopefully Lews can get SK cranks to run true out of the package.

Disagree with the crappy reels part. I own several Lews reels and they work great. Lews reel are a great value for their cost.

Ditto on the support for their reels. I have a boat full of them and never had a problem with any of them. Have converted several of my buddies and they are very happy as well.

Two financial firms involved - Peak Rock Capital a middle market private equity firm and MidCap Financial that provided financing. Both must make money on their investment. Look at the titles involved, Managing Director, Chairman, CEO, CEO of one firm and maintaining that role while becoming President of Lew's. One thing that stands out, high paid executives, and I don't know the titles of John Barns and Allan Ranson but I bet they are not far down the pay scale. I wonder how patient these investment firms will be?

^^Any reasons as to why you are saying this? If it's a legit issue maybe bring it up with the company not just bash for no stated reason... I have several Lew's and have had no issues. They cast a country mile. I don't buy Strike King often as they are little pricy but everything on them seems just fine. Might change out the hooks but I do that on almost every lure anyways.

If you want to use a reel that's made in the same factory as about 8 other brands (except Daiwa and Shimano) be my guest. And if Strike King is a little pricey, you might want to reconsider your hobby... roflmao

Love my Lew's. I made the switch about 2-3 yrs ago. Strike King makes very good baits as well. I wonder if they'll rename anything?

Have not had good luck with their reels either but there customer support was good to me. You got the Lew's crew kind of fired up. Don't do that with Dobyns or you might have a hit put out on you.
