Already got my three from them. They provide a shipping label so you can ship the old ones back.

Nothing new about them , they have been junk for years . DO NOT buy any fire extinguishers with plastic handles . All fire extinguishers with metal handles have a screw in gauge and are good .They also can be recharged . All extinguishers with a plastic handle have a gauge that is held on with a pin , and will leak at the o-ring , and are a one time use it and discard .

I got two new ones out of 4, not bad. The replacement for the kitchen one was quite larger than the old one. Also one for the boat. It was the old push button kind. The replacement for the boat much more robust with a gauge. They dropped the new ones off Fedez and included a Return Fedex label. Kudos to Kidde as far as I am concerned.

I am inclined to just keep the old ones, anybody see a problem with that. I'm thinking that out of thousands that did work, just a few didn't. maybe put the the old ones in the garage and so on for backup? So far I have gotten 2 out 3 of my approved replacements.

That's what I think. This recall is probably more about CYA than anything else.

I would think that they send you new ones in good faith and are asking for you to return the old ones to get them out of circulation. They even pay for the return shipping. It also proves that yours were the ones that were recalled. I would not roll the dice on the old ones because Murphys law always proves itself to me.

2 of my 4 were recalled. The 2 they declined even though the model number seemed to fit.

I was told if the pin is horizontal it is NOT covered. Its the pins that run vertical that are recalled. But dont take my word for it... go through the process to be sure but thats what I was told as to why 2 of mine were not covered.

They sent my new ones in about a week. Be prepared there is a shipping label in the box and they require that you send the old one back. To do this you have to call Fe Ex and set up a pickup time as this is considered a hazardous waste shipment... A little bit of hassle but worth it to know your stuff will work when you need it.

Well, I didn't call them, I dropped one off at a Fedex site in Plano. Then I found out that Walgreens NOW has a Fedex droppoff and mail service at the Photo counters. Piece of cake.

roflmao It says to notify the Fedex representative that it is a fire extinguisher and possible hazardous cargo. I did that at both locations. They said they knew from the obvious sticker on the box.
