Most of the time 1/16 oz Norton, 1/8 oz if fishing a little deeper waters. Owner 3X Twistlock in 1/8 oz if I need to go weedless.

The last set of RR's I got from the new owner didn't have the quicklock made right so I could adjust it. The QuickLock didn't move.

That surprised me and is a bummer if that's the way the Quicklocks are being made now on a mass scale.

I may have to go back to pouring my own QuickLock RR's when using Gulp!, although I do prefer the original RR's on most other soft plastics.

Wow - Wish they were still made that way!!! I like them because they don't tear up the inside of the plastic as bad as other jigheads but your design is even better!

TXMako, then you will really like I am working on ... which is introducing my new rattling jighead to the market, with a better locking device than the Rockport Rattler Original I invented in 2003 and Rockport Rattler QuickLock I invented and got the US Patent on in 2009.

They should be ready this spring, which ain't that long away.

And, ... they will be made in the USA !

1/8 oz Rockport Rattler jighead in chartreuse is my standby. I used the black/yellow jighead last fall and I had good success with it. I'm really looking forward to using it this spring. For me, using a quality jighead like a RR is really easy to justify the slightly higher cost associated with them for a few reasons-saltwater fishing comes with cost. The hotel, gas, quality reels, boat/kayak etc. I get about 15 days per year to fish the salt, and I pour every ounce of energy I have into it. I need to reduce the odds of failure as much as possible to maximize my opportunity for success. If I miss a hook set or don't set my drag properly, I can handle those reasons for missing a fish because they're correctable. If you're using a rusty hook on a jighead that has no other attracting qualities, you're simply missing opportunities. That amount is hard to measure, but I know it's tangible enough to warrant spending the extra 70 cents per jighead that makes the difference between success and failure.

I'm not a chick.

Yes sir Lindsey, the rattling jighead has proven to be a very productive fishing tool to increase an anglers ability, no matter their experience, to catch more fish.

That's why I invented them and put them on the market in 2003.

The problem with any jighead, since the invention of the jighead, has always been it's ability to "lock" the soft plastic in place.

The RR QuickLock I got a US Patent on in 2009 ( US 7,614,178 B2 ) solved that problem by making an adjustable locking device on it so you could get a new 'lock' on your soft plastic after a fish strike. Fish strikes can rip your soft plastic from its locking device, no matter what type of locking device that is currently on the market, ... so the RR QuickLock - being adjustable - would be able to give an angler more mileage from their expensive soft plastics.

The new owners of the Rockport Rattler are NOT making the RR QuickLock 'adjustable' and that's not the way it was invented. So basically, it is "1 strike and your out" when a decent fish hits your soft plastic and the RR QuickLock steel wire prong rips your soft plastic and you have to thread another one on your jighead.

And soft plastics can get expensive now days, they used to be ~$5.00 for a 10 count, now they are ~$5.00 for a 6 count.

My new rattling jigheads solve that problem and give anglers a locking device that will help their soft plastics last longer and save them $$$ !!!

They should be introduced to the market in March, ... stay tuned.

1/16 oz. is what I like over shallow grassbeds 3ft. or less.

1/8 oz. is probably the most versatile around reefs because it will allow an angler the ability to fish the shallow - as well as - the
deeper drop-offs of the reef.
