I do help people all the time get a better deal on a new one of any make.

And he's absolutely right. Truck prices have pretty much stayed about the same for the last few years. These trucks keep getting more and more expensive every year, driving the market on the pre owned ones. Sure you can spend 5-6k more on a truck and get a new one.

But, in order to get the truck that cheap you have to take the rebates. And if you take the rebates you don't get the good financing. So if I sell a 2017 Silverado for 40,000 and they put no money down. The payments would be $769 a month a 2.9% interest. That number includes TTL.

The same truck brand new at the standard rate of 5.9%, and a price of $45,000 the payments would be $931

So over 60 months you actually would pay $9720 more for the new truck.

With that being said we have bought 5 brand new Chevy's from Tony and Monte in the last 3 years.
I gave up a $1500 rebate to get 0%. I was approved a 5 year $50k loan @ 1.79% but somehow the app tried to send twice. I then had to wait 48 hours to reapply. Since I always pay them off early I would have taken the 1.79% loan and the extra rebate but decided not to wait 2 days. You just have to run the numbers when deciding whether or not to give up the rebate. Mine was a wash if I go the full term.

Usually, the best bet is to take the rebate and refi immediately with a credit union. Nearly always works out ahead unless the vehicle you're buying is just crazy expensive.

I agree with the OP that used trucks are barely cheaper than new ones. But they're priced there because someone is buying them. Just isn't me. I got into a new Ram 1500 Ecodiesel Lone Star Crew Cab last year for $33k + TT&L. Love the truck. I get 20 mpg towing my Triton bass boat. It's almost stupid how good that thing is on the fuel.

The only other comment I have on used is that often the prices they're offering are much more negotiable than it looks on the surface. So it might look like a used truck is only $5k cheaper, but in reality it could very well be $7k-$8k cheaper, which might be much more palatable to you.
