to each his own --- but I think you would be missing out on the trip of a lifetime.
the odds are better that you will be killed driving down the road than being killed by a bad guy at a fishing camp.
what in the world would you have with you or be doing that would interest some bandito ?
airport--fishing lodge--airport ...... that ain't too dangerous.

I have been to Salto and Comedero and loved every minute of it. I have been trying to justify going back the last couple of years but just having a hard time. The way I see it is just about every person who can afford to take a fishing trip of that caliber can rustle up a significant amount of cash. If not your friends or family can. Or they will wait on you to cash out refinance your house. Whatever the case might be.

Point being is depending on the individual they may want 20K, 40K or 100K+. Most of which wouldn't be difficult to come up with.

With all that being said I would love to go back and probably will once my kids get older. Probability is low but I think we all have something they would want.

Me and the wife like the One and Only Palmilla in Cabo (actually it is between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose) and have stayed there a couple time. It is one of the best resorts in the world with very tight security and is extremely high-end. A few months ago there was a shootout and a couple people died right on the beach next to the property (a $700+ a night hotel). Several bodies and severed heads were found in tourist areas of Cabo. Mexico is a total no go for me now and we both love Cabo. It just isn't worth it. If the cartel violence can make it to a world class facility like the One and Only it can certainly make it to a fish camp. I'd absolutely love to go to these Mexican lakes but the utter lawlessness and violence makes it too risky. No one will try to deny Mexico is absolutely corrupt. If anything did happen forgot about justice or ever getting your possessions back.

We have been here for 5 days .......
Not one issue. Accommodations & food has been great
Fishing is a little slow...... only 40-60 fish per day. Only 3 10 pound fish caught this week & only one in our boat. 10 fish over 7 pounds in our boat. Hope it gets better going into the Fall & Winter down here. Headed home this morning ........ back to Fork and Athens.
