I've been hearing rumors for a while that they would close offf the spillway to fisherman. People trashed the place so bad before was the reason I heard. Just a rumor I can't confirm but it sure seems that way. Maybe someone can give us some information on why.

I think this might be why fish wouldn't be going through the spillway since they are probably hanging out in shallow water.

Those reports came from Bruce-don't pay no attention to that guy. You'll learn over time he's a snake and gives false reports. But that's a whole nother story.

Just spreading the gospel. Nomore details needed or will be said.

I drove around the lake yesterday. I missed the major flood of 2015 being deployed. So seeing lake at where it is was amazing to me. I was surprised when I seen Nails was flooded over the road and so was Rocky.
Fall time hybrid fishing is usually good if not excellent on Sville.... don't see that panning out well this year.

Sunday the gates were closed before the Overlook site parking and at Welch going over the Dam. Did see guys/boats fishing there on 36 downstream of spillway.

I went to Welsh park on Saturday evening. There were quite a few people launching their boats and coming in. I talked with several people. There were a few hybrids caught and a few keeper white bass caught but the overwhelming story is the huge numbers of undersized white bass. People just kept going on about how good the spawn must have been these last couple of years. A friend and I kayaked all the way around the island and caught nothing but a bunch of small white bass.

This morning I fished around Lake Somerville Marina and caught a couple small lmb and a couple small white bass. I kayaked around twin island but only caught a couple bluegill.

I got a report from someone who kayaked up from 36 bridge to the spillway today. Same results, lots of undersized white bass, no keepers.

Thanks. Can you fish at the spillway now?

No, they still have it all blocked off. But you can put a boat or kayak in at 36 bridge and come up. There is a sign identifying the point that you can't go past.

Lake Level is 249.5 // 11.5 feet above normal.

The dam, visitors overlook and spillway are still closed.

Hwy 1948 is now open.

I took the kayak out tonight and found lots and lots of these guys. I thought they were going to jump in the yak and take the magical clousers out of my fly box grin

Almost all of them were in the 10 to 12 inch range.

Is there a boat ramp suitable for launching a fiberglass bass boat at FM 1948?

Don't know if there is any ramp open but I suppose a muddy launch is possible around the Jerdelle creek crossing just down from Rocky creek park. I'm about to wrap up the ranch house rehab and maybe fish a little.. J-Moe is probably wondering if I'm still alive wink

Thanks. I am just trying to figure out a place to launch, anywhere on the lake. It looks like all the Corps ramps are still closed.
