I will have one in time but I think they still need to work the bugs out. My buddy just bought one and he is having problems. Had to take it off and it's now in the shop. That would really erk me to spend $2,500 on a TM and it not to work properly. That thing should be able to even replace your toilet paper after the roll is gone...

I use spotlock on mine quite a bit and not just in deep water. It is the best upgrade I have done to my boat. I haven't had any problems with my Ultrex although mine is the 24V version.

I have had my Ultrex for a year, zero issues, I would not be without it.

Very convincing. I'll be shocked if I make it to the new year before upgrading the TM.

I've had my Ultrex since February and have had zero issues, I love it!

I purchased the 52" shaft and comes in handy in rougher water so the motor stays in the water while on spot-lock. The spot lock is very accurate and I've used it in timber to keep me put as well. The heading sensor is great as well, I can aim it at a point down the bank and it keeps me on that heading no matter the current or wind.

You can't go wrong with the Ultrex and it will be a favorite feature on your boat.

I've had an Ultrex for about 3 months, love it. I blew my lower unit in early July and used the Ultrex sitting at my console to get back to the ramp, 2-1/2 miles. I replaced a Tour 109 Motorguide, had it for four years and I know some will say it is a great unit, but mine was a POS.

I looked at the Xi5, talked to several trolling motor shops about both units, Ultrex was hands down the better choice. And I did not buy it from any of them.

I have it and Power Poles, both serve a purpose.

Both of them need some improvement before I jump on board.

+1

. Donald the spot lock on the xi5 is just as good as the ultrex. If you have zero need for a foot pedal then save the money and get the xi5. The electric pedal is really hard to steer. I got used to it but couldn't control my boat half as good as with cable steer. It's really bad when you have a big fish wrapped up and have to go get him. Cause you don't think about the crappy steering. Its just tough to Bass fish with.

Yes, there is an adjustable collar on the shaft so that you can raise it if needed.

I went with the Xi5 in January of 2016 because I use Lowrance and the technology interface was important to me. I can control the trolling motor from the remote or either graph which is great. I can drive around and mark brush piles with the big motor and then tell the Xi5 to navigate to a pile and it will troll/drive me over there where I anchor on the pile and fish until I ask it to go to the next one. Once anchored, I might want to move the boat to a slightly different location so that I can make a different cast. I just reach down on the graph and hit jog and I move forward, backward or left or right easily.

I use the contours to fish shoreline or just put on the cruise control where it compensates for wind and current to keep my speed constant and again, it all fully integrates with my Lowrance units. So if I'm retying or showing my son something on the back of the boat, I can control it from the console or the remote nice and easy.

I have heard about people having an issue with the bracket hanging over the bow and causing an issue with the roller. I have HEARD about it but never had it be an issue with mine, ever. You can use a quick release base if you want to but again, not an issue for me.

As for the foot pedal, I don't know anything about it. I haven't used mine since I installed the Xi5 and I don't ever plan to. It's king of like asking about a VCR when streaming video is an option. Once you understand the power of a GPS-based TM, the foot pedal becomes an antiquated subject pretty quickly. Seriously, why would I want to steer the boat with my foot when for the most part it steers itself?

Be kind, rewind.

- Would there ever be a need to run a second puck and wire down to the TM foot? This would be a problem not being able to attach the cable.
- I fish a lot of heavy brush so the foot peddle is a must. Is this a problem?
- I only fish open water 1/3 of the day. Don't want to be cussing the foot peddle 2/3 of the day.
- How do you have the TM head secured for running rough water?
