Trailer tires are usually bias ply. Bias Ply is an old technology vs the newer radial tires. This probably gives the best explanation of one vs the other "While a bias ply tire follows the ruts and breaks in the road, a radial tire will skim across the top and soak up some of the transitions."

Been using LT Tires for 25 years. I have fished all over the south putting thousands of miles on my boat trailers with heavy to some-what heavy bass boats with zero problems!

we have been trying the 8 ply 205-75-15 and 10 ply 225 -75 -15 import tire. There not the 6 and 8 of regular tires. Seem to hold up better than most and have not had many come back. There are 2 different ones coming in to the states - one is finished better and you can tell by the rubber. We carry that tire. There cheaper than car tires and better for your trailer- better sidewall ! Oh - there radials like 95% of trailer tires now days.......

what ive herd if you run marathon stay under 65 mph.they get hot speeds faster than 65 mph,if you run 70-75 get firehawks or cobras my2cents

Trailer tires are not made to go over 65 mph, of course everyone's going faster so the St tires are blowing out. Passenger tires are made to go 78 mph. Bass boats aren't that frigging heavy so the ST trailer are not needed. I just bought 5 new passenger tires for my Champion 202 boat trailer. Unless your going to start hauling bricks on your bass boat get the passenger tires. I just bought 5 p215/70r14 Kuhmo tires at walmart for $325 out the door. 75000 mile tires.

I called Bass Cat, they use car tires. Unless you're hauling rocks in your bass boat you don't need trailer tires, which are rated at 65 mph. I have a set of Kuhmo 215/70/R14. They run great and only cost $63 bucks each at Walmart. Walmart doesn't put tires on trailers, so I took them to a local tire shop.

Speaking from experience, if you have a single axle trailer you'll be happier with trailer tires. Passenger car tires will blow out on you and cause a horrible mess at 65 mph, whereas a trailer tire will blow out and drop, but still allow you to slow down under full control due to the much thicker sidewalls.

Really!!!!! Wonder why I've had to replace the fender inner lining wood and carpet light lenses and straighten fenders on three different occasions in the last 5 years as opposed to pulling trailers for forty years without any trouble. Oh yea quality and workmanship is the same today as way back when. Maybe I'm missing something.

When your tire has max wt. 1870 written on it, is that total weight on the axle or on each tire for a total of 3740 per axle?
