Flipping is still effective in the summer but deep nearby water and shade definitely play a big part in that.

As for cranking, I just recently got my first boat and I've only really been looking at my maps before I hit the water and then following up on those waypoints when I get out there to see what it really looks like down there. Fish aren't always there but if they are good spots it's only a matter of time before I'm able to pattern them. But time is what you have to put in.

I've been having good trips with skinny dippers early and late shallow along veg lines, with c rig lizards during the heat of the day on a semi grassless lake. Punching on heavy grass lakes has been consistently awesome all day.
