Put a YM and Pop R in the water side by side and you can easily see the difference in how they sit in the water. AND what bait fish "sits" on top of the water ?

They question he asked was about the difference in the two baits. No one said a bait fish sits on top of the water but they do flicker and break the surface. It has to do with the action etc the YM has based on shape etc and profile. I simply answered his question. Past that buy what you like.

I love this topic on here. One day they say you need to be versatile and suble changes make all the difference. But once you mention a yellow magic they out fishing any other popper in any situation at all times.
LOVE IT!

My question is ---- how does "sitting" in the water translate to action in the water and ultimately catching fish ? It is truly a legitimate question .......

This is my last comment of the Yellow Magic vs Pop R comparison. I can buy a 3 pack of Pop R's , different colors, for $9.99 at Academy. Why in God's name would I pay $13.49 for 1 Yellow Magic and if I laid one of each side by side on a table 90% of the people wouldn't be able to tell which was which. As Forest would say, "and that's all I have to say about that".

I think I can beat that one a couple of years ago Dick's was clearing out their Excalibur PopR's at $2 each I bought about a dozen and have caught tons of fish on them ever since .

There is no doubt the YM can out fish a PopR at times but you can't say a YM will out fish a PopR all the time then go on and say a slight change in a jig presentation can make a huge difference. It goes both ways

Because the way it sits bottom end lower in the water causes it to have a different action than a Pop R when moved.

Feather tails are better on YM, too. It's the same concept of throwing LC vs H20 cranks. There is a difference.

There is always a "difference" in same type baits from the manufacturers. No 2 manufacturers make identical baits. "Difference" does not make them "better" ,,,,,, just different. One man's trash is another man's gold. You will always be able to find someone using a Pop-R that can out fish the next guy using a Yellow Magic. The brand of bait does not make the fisherman. the real questions become: *** what are you confident with *** are you comfortable with the cost *** do you notice a difference when fishing *** what do you catch fish better with

the yellow magic has superior action to a pop-r, period.

Well I sure stirred up a hornets nest. My fishing buddy is always looking for something to outfish the Bone YM. The only thing that has come close was the Whopper Plopper. I really don't mind spending this much on a topwater lure. Hard to lose them. A crankbait over 10 bucks has yet to find its way into my tackle box though.
