Mary's is way overrated, hot, flies and cig smoke. Not my idea of a good meal. Next time around Breckenridge try Sissy's on 183, way better CFS imo.. Sissys has its share of smoke the last time I was there. That was a couple years ago though. Did they cut out the smoke. By the way I agree on Marys. I never have liked the place. Have never smelled cig smoke or ever seen anyone smoking at Sissys.

Sissy's has been no smoking for a while,10 times the place Mary's is unless you like grease.

I must have hit them on an off day. I had never been and went a month or so ago and was disappointed after all the hype. I thought the CFS was mediocre at best and the sides were worse. A big CFS does not mean a good CFS. I may give them another try, but I can get a better CFS here in Nac. Totally agree, same thing happened to me. I was disappointed too. Have not been back since.

Ive had every CFS listed above. They are good.
Mary's is different
It has good days and bad days, but IMO Mary's wins Texas's best CFS every year for a reason. That's a pretty impressive feat.

I'd heard about that place for years and probably drove past the turn off 5oo times before I took a notion to drive the 5 miles or whatever out of the way off 20 to eat dinner one night. It was good, but not what i was expecting given all the hype over the 2o or so years I'd been hearing about it. At least they didn't mess it up. For a long time I thought a CF steak was one of those things that you couldn't hardly screw up but I learned different about that a time or two. Not saying that Mary's was bad at all so don't take this as a diss on them, - just not quite what i thought it would be. I have since eaten about the best one I have ever tasted and for the life of me I can't remember now where that place was. If I finally recall it I'll make a separate thread about it. That sucker was some kind of fine - best I've ever eaten. Wait!! it just hit me . Settles Hotel in downtown Big Spring TX. I promise you won't regret it. There is people that drive plumb from Midland just to eat it there!

The CFS at Lonesome Dove in the Fort Worth Stockyards is pretty dang good.
