For the most part they beat the bank and 1 lb them all day long. That doesnt impress me much. I know that their talent is far beyond mine, but MLF hasnt contribited to that opinion.
How many people on a new lake with quality fish would be content to beat the bank and catch 1 lbers all day to put up the numbers they do? Im not gonna do that.
Ive been more impressed by the few guys that stuck with patterns that produced fewer but larger fish and won.
Love the show, but I watch to hopefully see that one guy target bigger fish and see how he does it.
I think it would be interesting to increase the size limit and force them to search out better quality fish.
What impresses me more is how they can fish 3 and 4 day tournaments and have consistent days every day.
Anybody can go out and catch a 20 lb bag or have a phenomenal day. What separates them from many of us fans, is they can do it over 3-4 days and make adjustments each day with weather changes and what not. That is what impresses me, consistency.

They get help. Show can't afford to be a looser. I agree, and have been present multiple times when they get help either by phone call or talking in person. I feel as though myself, and many others on this board, if we fished daily as basically they do, and got the help and info they get, we would be damn good also. Some of us already ate good on our home lakes. We'd then get to the point we could use our overall fishing knowledge to just show up on a lake we haven't fished and catch fish. Yes they are good, but there are PLENTY of them that don't catch sh$$ either and don't make it to the next round. Have you been present multiple times when the pros are soliciting help during off limits or during a tournament? Soliciting help from outsiders or pros entered in the tournament? What level pros, Elites, FLW Tour, Opens? Who is they? Not asking you to name names.

I was happy to see them do well at Jacksonville. I believe they beat my pb on that lake with the first fish weighed

Yes, for regular tournaments I've been sitting with the person receiving the call, or in person during conversations. I've even been in the boat as they were given exact locations. Now admittedly it's not always during off limits, but there are more occasions than not when they have been. Or the occasional "friend" who needs info and it magically gets back to the pro. I couldn't care less, honestly. Most of the time these guys helping are FAR too happy to help and be paid well for the info, and I won't lie, I save the spots too so I can gain better knowledge of the lake. Now having said that, these guys still have to catch them and they do, they are really good. But I don't hold them in such high regard as others based on knowing and seeing this. That is why I made the statement that if some of us had this level of info we'd be pretty damned good or better also.

Again, what level are you talking about? Elites or FLW Tour, Opens, what? And more often than not during off limits kind of blows me away. I've stayed with some of the best pros on the Elites. For multiple days at a time during practice and tournaments over the past 10 years. I've never heard nor seen anything of the sort by any of them. I know it goes on but have never personally witnessed it among the guys I've been with.
I will, however guarantee you that no one is getting info in MLF.

Just my opinion. I live in Nacogdoches and fish Lake Nacogdoches and Naconiche three and four times a week year around, and I catch fish year around on both lakes, I fish the spawn on both lakes and I fish the fall feeding on both lakes, BUT I have never caught fish in numbers like those guys did when they were there. I found them by accident on Monday afternoon on Nacogdoches and was on Naconiche Tuesday and that was all I got to see due to having to leave and go back to work, but gentlemen, I was blown away by what they were doing, where they were doing it and the numbers they were catching. McCelland was fishing some spots on Nacogdoches that are some of my favorites (and I'm sure nobody else knows where there are) and I have never caught that many fish on those spots. On Naconiche, Davis fished one spot or really and area that I had fished a few times, I never really caught much there, but he whacked them there. Bobby Lane fished one spot that I like, but again I never caught them like that there. I think those guys just think differently than most of us do, and they are willing to try something different. For example Kriet throwing that Methialate ? colored worm. I know some will say "I been doing that for years" but I have never seen anyone using a worm like that on Nacogdoches, ever. I have never seen one laying in the parking lot or on the ramp or hung in bush somewhere. And following them on Rayburn during the Texas fest in May, it was the same. They fished some of my spots and some spots in the area that I had never fished before because I didn't see anything appealing there, and they caught fish. They are just that good. Oh, by the way, Edwin Evers spoke to me at Lake Naconiche, he said "Could you please get out of the way?" LOL I had a blast watching them on both lakes and Rayburn, and at Conroe for the classic (my wife says I'm a stalker) and I learned a lot. Had a good conversation with Timmy Horton about creek channels on Naconiche, and had a good conversation with Josh Bertrand about fishing humps and submerged islands on Rayburn. And again I say, those guys are just that good.
Just my opinion. later...etex

I'm not going to read all the posts about MLF, so I will cut to the chase. Do they ever fish on Kurth?

If you are basing your opinion off watching the TV coverage you need to realize some of the guys who did really well were only catching 10-12 fish a day, they were just the right ones. TV sometimes makes it appear they are all catching 50+ plus fish a day and also all catching a lot of big fish.

I was a little disappointed that the final day was on Kurth. I would have loved to see those guys back on Lake Nac or Naconiche just to see what they could do. Still, I think it is the best fishing show on tv right now.

Just their knowledge of fish behavior alone is mind blowing. Especially when they start talking about patterns dealing with weather, water, time of day, etc......
They literally know what they SHOULD do to catch the fish at that particular time for those particular conditions or can figure it out quickly!

Good Lord it's been a while since I have been on here. I got caught up in the FB thing. Fouz I saw the Jacksonville MLF and yes I was impressed for sure. On a good day I MIGHT could have squeezed 15 pounds out of a lake like that. I like the weigh and release thing they do to. If BASS is going to run the Elite Series having the pros fish with marshalls they ought to jump off on this. It may make the weigh ins not quite as interesting but it would be a lot healthier for the fish......

My question is. Is the prize for world champion just a trophy ?

Still, I think it is the best fishing show on tv right now. Ya they missed kurth by about 10-12 years. Back then it was full of 4-6lbers with lots of 8-11 also. I was still expecting a random big one. Even on the worst day you could always go out there and catch at least a couple 5's in March.
